We are so excited to announce that Jacob Beecher is joining the Generator Team as the Production Manager for the Thought Network Symposium. We appreciate his calm demeanour and thoughtful approach to supporting the designers in residence to help make their installations shine.

MORE ABOUT JACOB

Jacob is a theatre artist based in Toronto. He is a graduate of the Theatre Arts -
Technical Production program at Humber Polytechnic. Jacob has worked in various
capacities with a number of theatre companies in Toronto.

🎉 INTRODUCING THE EXPLORATIONS LAB

The Explorations Lab features six artist-producers from across Canada who are conducting early-stage research into a sector change question.

The Thought Network Explorations Lab includes workshops, peer sessions, individual mentorship sessions, and independent time for researchers to explore their question. Several Explorations Lab participants will present their work-to-date at the Thought Network Symposium on June 9th.

The Thought Network Symposium 💡🌱

This symposium is a gathering for artist-producers in the community to engage in conversations about progressive sector change through research, practice, and community-driven initiatives. The participants of the Thought Network Research Residency will share about their current research questions and projects.

The symposium will be of interest to anyone interested in increasing their own knowledge, networks, and capacity around issues of progressive sector change in the theatre and performing arts sectors. We welcome attendees to bring their own thoughts, ideas, questions, and curiosities about sector change.

ACCESSIBILITY: ASL-English interpretation will be provided on request. The venue is physically accessible, and there is an accessible, gender-neutral bathroom on site. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available. Lunch will be provided. There is no cost to attend.

We're thrilled to be engaged with these brilliant and curious humans as they invest time and attention in investigating the most urgent questions they have identified while engaged in their practice.

The ongoing housing crisis in Ontario affects all low- and moderate-income, precariously employed workers, including artist-producers in the performing arts. This workshop is an opportunity for arts workers in Generator’s extended community to connect with leading organizers in the housing justice movement to learn more about their rights as tenants, what housing justice organizing looks like locally, and how to connect with supportive resources. This 90-minute session will take place online and include a presentation from ACORN leaders followed by an opportunity for questions and answers.

This workshop is best suited for: People working (full-time, part-time, or occasionally) in the performing arts who are low- to moderate income and and have a vested interest in housing justice. This might include renters, people who are precariously housed, and people who are curious about renting in the future.

Registration is required. This workshop will take place online, on Zoom.

Accessibility information: ASL interpretation will be provided upon request and the Zoom call will have live captions. Workshop slides will be provided to registered participants after the session.
