The Speedmaster Moonwatch gets all the credit. The brand's racing and Olympic chapters get most of the present-day value.

This week we look at two pre-owned Speedmasters that aren't the Moonwatch — the Michael Schumacher commemorative (ref 3518.50.00) and the Olympic Games 2009 (ref 323.10.40.40.04.001). Both wear well on smaller wrists, both carry serious Speedmaster DNA, neither costs Moonwatch money.

The Sky-Dweller 336933 is one of Rolex’s most convincing answers to the luxury travel watch.

The bright black dial keeps the annual calendar and dual-time display looking clean, while the yellow Rolesor case and Jubilee bracelet give the watch more warmth and presence than the Oyster version. A complicated Rolex, but still one that wears with surprising clarity.

The Paris 2024 Chronoscope works because it treats the Olympic connection with a lighter touch than most commemorative watches.

The silver-white dial, dark grey “snail” scales, and 43mm Chronoscope case give it a strong vintage timing feel, while the Paris 2024 link sits more in the details than the front-facing design. A special edition, but one that still behaves like a serious chronograph first.

The best brands don't just release new watches.
They listen.

In our latest journal, Tudor Heard You, we examine the new Black Bay Chrono "Bumblebee" and what it reveals about Tudor's approach to product development. More than a new dial configuration, it may be evidence of a brand paying close attention to collector feedback and market preferences.

Sometimes the most important story isn't the watch itself — it's what the watch says about the brand behind it.

Gen Z is drawn to Cartier because it offers something many modern watches do not: strong design without shouting for attention. As younger collectors have moved toward smaller, dressier watches, Cartier’s clean shapes, cultural history, and instantly recognisable silhouettes have started to feel more relevant than ever. It is less about hype, more about taste, which is exactly why the brand resonates now.

The SBGE215 is one of those Grand Seiko sports watches that feels more refined than its 44mm size suggests.

The black dial, gold accents, high-intensity titanium case, and Spring Drive GMT movement give it real technical presence, but the appeal is in how wearable it stays despite the spec sheet. A travel watch built with substance, not noise.

Lavender tells you Rolex no longer sees the Oyster Perpetual as just the quiet entry point.

On the 126000, that softer dial colour gives the clean 36mm case a very different voice, while the domed bezel and Oyster bracelet keep the watch grounded in the OP’s stripped-back identity. A simple Rolex, but not a neutral one.

The Land-Dweller 36 is significant because Rolex rarely introduces a genuinely new family, and even less often one with this much design and technical separation from the rest of the catalogue.

On the 127234, the intense white honeycomb dial, fluted bezel, and Flat Jubilee bracelet give it a more integrated, architectural character, while the new calibre 7135 signals that this is about more than styling alone.

The grey dial gives the Datejust 31 a cooler, more composed tone, while the diamond-set VI adds a small focal point that changes the watch just enough.

On the 278274, that detail works well because the rest of the watch stays disciplined: fluted bezel, Jubilee bracelet, and a dial layout that still feels balanced rather than decorative.
