Himmie has been with us for over a year and even though he has had a few applications they where just not the spot for him until papa Jay came along. I am so excited for Himmie and grateful to the Johnson family that they opened up their hearts and home to our one eyed tripod ❤️ Happy adventures!

Pippen is back! Surgery went well but we did find out that he has hydrocephalus which you can see the white area in the third image. The second image is of where his spinal cord was compressed. There was a piece of misplace bone that was put back into place by a little screw and bone cement to hold it all in place. Pippen weighs 1 kg which made the surgery so much more complex and very risky as it is so much more difficult to perform the surgery on a dog that small. We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Alcott and his amazing staff from @tucsonvetspecialists for taking this case on! As far as his hydrocephalus we are hopeful that now that the spinal cord is decompressed the access fluid will be able to drain on its own. We are planning for a two month recovery and we are hopeful that he will be walking by the end ❤️ Thank you to everyone that is cheering for little Pippen!

I love veterinary medicine! When we committed to taking in Thursday we thought that we would be able to fix her two shattered back legs for a fraction of what we ended up having to pay but WE did it because of YOU guys!!! People have asked in the past why we put so many resources into one dog and the answer has always been a no brainer!! EVERY life matters!!! Could we do a little for a lot of dogs, ABSOLUTLY and we do EVERYDAY but everybody that supports us knows that we will do what we can to make that one dogs life better at a time. That is OUR mission! I love you guys for entirely trusting us to do what we do 🤍

Thursday is starting to use both of her legs and well on her way to being able to run again in the future! We don’t know how she broke her back legs but because there were no other physical signs of being hit by a car the assumption is that it was humid inflicted.

Pippen is on his way for his MRI and I’m real nervous. GOOD THOUGHTS right?!!!!

This little guy who we named Pippin was found in someone’s backyard unable to walk. Thank you Pima Animal Care Center for wasting no time helping this little guy.

Yesterday we took him to see Dr. Alcott for a neuro exam. After reviewing x-rays and examining Pippen he felt that this was not a new injury that occurred when he was dropped over a 6 foot wall into someone’s yard but that he was either born this way or was injured some time ago.

Diagnosis: Atlantoaxial luxation

Plan:
The current plan is to perform an MRI on Pippen's neck to investigate his symptoms further. Treatment options for Pippen will be discussed based on the results of his MRI.

We would like to give Pippin every opportunity and need your support.

The first estimate is for his MRI tomorrow the second one hopefully for his surgery if he is a candidate.

We are looking for fosters who are willing to take 1 puppy for a week to shower them in patience and love. All puppies are small breeds. We have had a really sh*tty last 10 days but I will post about that later. This post is about this little ray of sunshine that we had the pleasure to welcome during our chaos and loss. We are not quite sure what he is so if you would like to throw at us any thoughts that would be great 🙃 He is around six weeks of age as he has most of his teeth and weighs 1.3 pounds. He is a bit top-heavy and my grandbabies name him Snowball 🤷🏼‍♀️ oh and someone decided it was a good idea to dock his tail fairly recent by themselves 🙃 He is eating and drinking often and even plays but I am a bit concerned that he is hydrocephalic so he has a neuro appt on Thursday 💙

Mena came to us about a month ago. She was taken in by an independent rescuer after she was being beaten and mistreated. She has tick fever and is extremely vision impaired. We scheduled an ophthalmology appointment for her in the mean time she had been gaining weight and doing well. During her appt we learned that she has a chronic extreme case of dry eye and because she was untreated for so long it had severely damaged her eyes to the point of being blind in one eye and vision impaired in the other. She is being treated with three different eye meditations along with two aural antibiotics in the hopes to break down and heal the severe scarring. She’s doing wonderful today! She has gained 9 pounds, her skin is improving on a prescription diet (thank you @greatergoodcharities and @codysfriendscharity for providing this much-needed special food) and her eyes are much better and less painful. Thank you to everyone that supports us and Allie’s us to help dogs like Mena ❤️

How could we not!

Thursday was found dragging her body in the street. Both of her back legs are broken-her femur on one side and her tibia and fibula on the other leg. She was dragging herself long enough that she has significant wounds from the asphalt tearing through her legs.

She was taken into a local animal shelter where we were contacted about taking her in.

Thursday was scheduled with a veterinarian to surgically repair her broken femur with the intention of splinting her tibia and fibula fracture. The Veterinarian deemed the procedure too complicated for that repair and has referred Thursday to an orthopedic veterinarian. The veterinarian has quoted us $5000.00 to surgically repair both legs.

Without raising these funds, we CANNOT get this surgery for Thursday. Please help her walk again by donating and sharing her story. Humans have let her down, but I want to believe that we can help her.

Thank you to the Petfinder Foundation for the emergency medical grant that helped Mila during her endoscopic procedure! When we say that it takes a village, we mean it! She told me that this was how she felt when she could swallow again.

It is always incredibly sad when owners choose not to be present. It’s the last act of kindness and it’s about them not us!

“Pets, it turns out, also have last wishes before they die, but only known by veterinarians who put old and sick animals to sleep. Twitter user Jesse Dietrich asked a vet what was the most difficult part of his job.

The specialist answered without hesitation that it was the hardest for him to see how old or sick animals look for their owners with the eyes of their owners before going to sleep. The fact is that 90 % of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying animal. People leave so that they don't see their pet leave. But they don't realize that it's in these last moments of life that their pet needs them most.

Veterinarians ask the owners to be close to the animals until the very end. ′′It's inevitable that they die before you. Don't forget that you were the center of their life. Maybe they were just a part of you. But they are also your family. No matter how hard it is, don't leave them.

Dont let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they dont like. It is very painful for veterinarians to see how pets cannot find their owner during the last minutes of their life. They dont understand why the owner left them. After all, they needed their owner’s consolation.

Veterinarians do everything possible to ensure that animals are not so scared, but they are completely strangers to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you. Think about the pet. Endure this pain for the sake of their sake. Be with them until the end.”

This little puddle of puppies is eight weeks old and they weigh between one and 2 1/2 pounds. They just started getting their teeth. Mom and dad came to us after their humans were no longer available to care for them. Mama was very pregnant and gave birth the first night at the shelter. Two puppies sadly did not make it. We believe that she went into labor prematurely and that is why the puppies are a bit behind developmentally. They are now thriving after a bit of extra help 🤍
