2020 LAFFL SEASON :

Due to Covid and in anticipation of players missing time, games being cancelled or postponed, and no real preseason there will be many temporary changes this year compared to how the league is normally run. See below:

ONLINE DRAFT - This season (and this season only) the draft will be held ONLINE. The draft is set for Saturday, September 5th at 6pm Central. There will be a 2 minute time limit for each pick. Next season we will go back to our normal offline draft and attendance will be mandatory.

NO LEAGUE FEES - There will be no league fees this season. We will just be playing for the championship belt. (If you have already paid your league fees, you will be refunded this weekend.)

NO Keepers - This year will be a complete redraft and there will be no keepers going into year 10.

NO Cups - The LAFFL League Cup and Survivor Cup will be going on a temporary hiatus for this season.

NO Trades - For this season there will be no trades allowed. Trading is always a gamble, but with potential two week quarantines the risk is significantly greater this season.

FAAB Instituted - With zero trading allowed, I decided that a FAAB (Free Agent Acquisition Budget) would be the most fair solution. This way, everyone will have an equal chance at every free agent every week. Everyone will start with a $200 budget for the season and you can bid on free agents every day. Bids are processed every day at 10AM Central every day of the week.

NO Defenses - There will be zero defenses this season.

NO Negative Points - Consider it Alpha Testing, but for at least this season you will not be penalized if a player on your team fumbles or throws an interception.

EXPANDED ROSTERS - This season we will be expanding the rosters out to 20 overall to provide backup for Covid related issues. There will be 9 starting spots, 11 bench spots, and 2 injured reserve spots.

CHAMPIONSHIP FAILSAFE - In the event that complete chaos ensues and we are unable to have playoffs this season the league champion will be determined by Total Points Scored

The draft will be held on Saturday, August 31st and is tentatively scheduled for 2PM.

League Fees

As a reminder, league fees are $50 per team.

This year I'd like for everyone to have their league fees paid before the draft. As usual, you can either pay in person at the draft or send me the fees via PayPal at either my email address ([email protected]) or my phone number (334-470-9554).

2018 LAFFL Trifecta Challenge

The 2018 LAFFL Season may be over, but NFL football is not. As we have the previous two seasons, the LAFFL will be holding a three week long winner take all DFS style competition. The cost is $15 per particpant and the competition covers week 17 of the NFL regular season, the wild card round, and the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.

How it works:

Each team submits a lineup via email, text, or Facebook Messenger before the first game kicks off each week. You can use any active players you want to fill out your lineups, there's no draft or salary cap, so there will be some of the same players in many of the lineups submitted. Scoring updates will be posted via email and the league page game days.

Scoring:

Scoring is the same as it is in the LAFFL with one minor tweak. Passing yards will be scored as .05 points per passing yard instead of .04 points per passing yard. ( We will also be going to this scoring format for the 2019 season).

The winner of this competition will receive a crystal trophy and the entirety of the money pool. As of right now, we have 7 verbal commitments from competitors, so the pool is currently sitting at $105.

Congrats to the six teams that made the playoffs this year. We've had a competitive regular season with playoff berths being decided in the last week. Competing for the belt this year are four former LAFFL Champions (Chad, Josh, Jason, and Lehill), a two time runner-up (Bryan), and one LAFFL rookie (Tiffany). Remember, the fees are $50 per team this year. If you don't pay your fees you are ineligible for the playoffs, winning the consolation ladder, and having keepers in 2019, so get those fees paid.

A couple of changes to the playoff/consolation format this year:

Re-seeding will occur after the first round of the playoffs this year. If the number 6 seed beats the number 3, they will then play the number 1 seed instead of the number 2 seed.

The consolation ladder this year will be a 3 week point competition instead of a 2 week head to head competition. Whichever team in the consolation bracket has the most cumulative points from weeks 14 through 16 will get the first opportunity to pick where they draft in 2019.

The 5th place game will also be a points competition covering weeks 15 and 16. With the winning team getting to choose where they draft 5th.
