Official Triathlon Team of the University of California, Berkeley. caltriathlon.com. 7-time USA Tria
The California Triathlon team is one of the largest athletics teams at UC Berkeley, one of the largest sports clubs in the nation, and one of the most decorated collegiate triathlon teams in history. Since it’s inception in 1989, the team has grown to almost 200 members, including first-time swimmers, bikers, and runners, as well as National Champions and Olympic hopefuls. As a team, we have won 1
Overall National Championship, 4 Mens National Championships, 1 Women’s National Championship, and the Team Spirit Award at Collegiate Nationals. It is our goal to maintain the high level of performance, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that make Cal Tri what it is today. Locally, we have a large presence at non-collegiate races in both the summer and fall where our athletes often compete in half-Ironman and Ironman events. At our first collegiate race in the spring, we typically bring up to 75 athletes, and we continue to have the largest collegiate team throughout the collegiate racing circuit including having the largest team ever brought to both Collegiate Nationals and Wildflower. This depth is unmatched by any other collegiate team or club. The team is also very well represented regionally, nationally, and even internationally as we consistently dominate the West Coast, excel at Nationals (oh by-the-way we’ve won it 6 times), and produce many professional triathletes, some with Olympic ambitions. On campus, Cal Tri works to promote the sport of Triathlon within the Berkeley community. It is often said that Triathlon is a lifestyle, and thus we think of ourselves both as a team and a family. Here you will meet some of your best friends, and adventures with the team will take you all across California, the United States, and even the World. We are open to all skill levels and abilities from complete beginners to seasoned professionals. With Cal Tri, you will find a unique group of people who will help you become the triathlete and person you want to be.
