A really difficult case that was fully completed this week, which we feel is a fantastic example of the scope of clear aligners in orthodontics.

We corrected both anterior and posterior crossbites using the CAP expansion protocol, carefully staged movements, and selective IPR to ensure predictable, safe alignment while minimising black triangles.

Once alignment was complete, we carried out whitening and our restorative colleague Dr Jason masked the large black triangle between the upper centrals with bonding. Between the bonding appt and bonded retainer appt, some small relapse of the centrals was noted but the patient declined going back into Invisalign, but was absolutely over the moon with the final result.

This case really shows the scope of clear aligner therapy, using the right protocols, complex tooth movements can be achieved in a safe, minimally invasive way, giving patients life-changing results.

This case really shows the importance of treating at the right time 👌.
There isn’t one rule for everyone, but sometimes waiting until the early teens can actually create more problems.

This young patient presented with a reverse overjet. Issues like this can restrict maxillary growth, retrocline the upper incisors (causing crowding and eruption issues), and even push the lowers more buccally leading to gum recession.

The first step is always to check if it’s dental or skeletal. Here we identified an RCP–ICP slide (1st photo), so the Class III wasn’t quite as bad as it first appeared. By eliminating the false bite, we reduce the risk of future TMJ issues and improve intercuspation 🙌.

Our aims were to develop the arches to create space and improve alignment, avoiding potential extractions (contraindicated in a Class III case) using the CAP Phase 1 protocols with Invisalign First and Class III elastics.

A positive overjet was achieved just over 6 months ✨. This might be the only treatment she will hopefully ever need but if later treatment is required, it will be short and easy!
