Such a great night!! I can’t express how meaningful this whole project has been to me and to get to celebrate it live with all the people I love and everyone who has supported our music was amazing!! Thank you to my band who learned all these songs and nailed them all beautifully. Thank you to for being an artist friendly and wonderful venue and for opening the show with an amazing set and amazing new album too. It took me years to get the right diagnosis.
I’ve become so used to getting blood drawn that when I look at this photo of myself, it actually feels familiar… almost comfortable. That might sound strange, but when you live with a chronic illness, these moments become part of your normal whether you like it or not.
In the past two years alone, I’ve had more blood tests than I could ever count. When doctors were trying to figure out what was wrong with me (which became a two-year back-and-forth), I saw 15 different specialists- each one bouncing me to the next. Looking back, my constellation of symptoms was so obvious. But with how broken continuity of care is in this country, no one put the pieces together.
I was put through the ringer, as my rheumatologist likes to remind me, and so I wrote songs and worked on music which was the only way I could figure out how to deal with everything going on.
The result of that journey comes out this Friday. And I’m so grateful that it’s finally going to be out in the world ❤️
