For a few months now I have just been craving the famous Matilda chocolate cake after watching the movie. I tried my best to replicate it & it did not disappoint. So here I will share the recipe with you guys, so you can make it at home as well! It was easy & you can use a hand mixer if you don’t have a stand mixer at home.

Cake: 2 cups sifted all purpose flour, 2 cups granulated sugar, 3/4 cups cocoa powder, 2 tsp baking powder, 2tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 cup milk, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1 tbs vanilla extract, 1 cup hot coffee(the cake won’t take like coffee)
Or you can use a chocolate box cake mix & add the vanilla extract & coffee on top of the asked ingredients in the back(use milk instead of water), either way it will taste good. Don’t be alarmed as the cake mix will be runny with the cup of coffee. Just trust the process.

Chocolate cream cheese frosting: 3 sticks salted butter room temperature, 8oz cream cheese room temperature, 1 cup cocoa powder, 5 cups powdered sugar, 2 tbs milk,1 tbs vanilla extract.

I split the cake mix in 2 separate pans and baked at 350 for 17 minutes or until you insert a toothpick & comes out clean. Let cool and you can start frosting. For frosting add 1 cup powdered sugar at a time to avoid big mess. Once you have frosting just do the best you can to frost the cake. Have fun with it!

I am a beginner & self taught and for now I am just happy to make these for my family. But I appreciate the interest you all have. It motivates me to learn more. But just wanted to share my progress with you all! 🙂
