Ali ibn Abu Talib’s (ra) Description of the Prophet (saw) I Hilya Sharif
This art piece written by R.I.P. Alaattin Uney (1965-2022)
The calligrapher used sufi title (صوفى).
This pieces his last hilyes, he signed his art pieces sufi title and the year of the hegira. As you see in each art pieces “ صوفى ١٤٤٤ “ which is written between 2021-2022.
May Allah forgive him and us.

Dancers wear long white robes with full skirts, which symbolize the shrouds of their egos, art historian Nurhan Atasoy of the Turkish Cultural Foundation wrote in “Dervis Ceyizi,” her book on dervish clothing. On the dancers’ heads sit tall conical felt hats called sikke, ranging from brown to gray to black depending on their sect; these represent the tombstones of their egos. Over the robes, the dancers wear long dark cloaks, which embody the wearers’ worldly life and are cast off during the ceremony. When the dancer is finally wearing only his long white robe, he is assumed to be without fault and ready to start the mesmerizing complex whirls that define the sema.

Turn to the Turkish (originally Persian) word for tulip, lale that possesses orthographic and onomatopoeic similarities to the word Allah. Moreover, in the abjad system or Islamic numerology lale carries the same value as Allah. As such, the tulip constitutes an object of spiritual meditation. Mystics also liked to state that the flower is humble because, when in bloom, it bows its head before the majesty of God.
