We are delighted that Israeli former Wimbledon player, Shahar Perkiss, will be recording a special video message to share with our guests at our Birthday Event, taking place in North West London, on Sunday 21st June.
Shahar Perkiss was a prominent Israeli tennis player in the 1980s, playing at Wimbledon, the Olympic games, the Maccabiah games and at the Davis Cup. When Shahar was very young he met Freddie Krivine at a junior event in Wimbledon. In 2000, he set up a project with Freddie Krivine to bring Arab and Jewish children together to learn and play tennis. He is now a sports coach at Haifa University and on the Board of the The Freddie Krivine Initiative. He has had the pleasure of seeing the children of the children he taught all those years ago coming to play together. Shahar believes that sport is a wonderful way of connecting people and dearly wants to expand the initiative to not only children in the North of Israel, but all over Israel.
Strawberries & Cream Team celebrates 6 Years of TalkMatters - Jews and Arabs Together. To mark the occasion, we are delighted to host Lee Wilson and Riham Namle from The Freddie Krivine Initiative. The FKI brings Arab and Jewish children together to learn, play tennis, and simply have fun - proving that sport has the capacity to unite. Their work offers a powerful example of what is possible when people choose partnership over division and how initiatives like this can help shape a more hopeful future for Jewish–Arab relations both within Israel and beyond.

We are honoured to host Jane Krivine - daughter of the legendary 'Mr Tennis' Freddie Krivine - at our event celebrating six "roller coaster" years of partnering with grassroots cooperative initiatives in Israel Palestine.
Until 2004, when Jane Krivine moved to Israel from London, she was a classical concerts manager and arts festival director. She inherited from her father, who had been President of the Israel Tennis Association, a wide-reaching programme to introduce Jewish and Arab children to each other through tennis. Over the past 25 years the programme has expanded, with tennis courts and clubhouse in Beit Hananya, to involve families and the wider community in a dynamic programme of social, educational, and language activities.

Our Founder, Jenny Nemko, has just returned from Israel after visiting some of the incredible initiatives that TalkMatters supports. Even in a climate of deep uncertainty and fear, the passion for bringing people together shines through all the inspirational leaders that she met.
By happy chance, she witnessed this togetherness on a grand scale in Haifa. Jenny watched the Taalatat Adra procession in which Maronite and Greek Orthodox (Melkite) scouts and clergy march side-by-side - two distinct traditions united by shared faith and heritage. The journey up Mount Carmel, framed by the breath-taking Baha’i Gardens, serves as a living testament to TalkMatters . From the Aramaic chants of the Maronites to the Baha’i message of global peace, the streets of Haifa offered a powerful vision of unity. A masterclass in coexistence.

We warmly invite you to join us for this special celebration, marking six extraordinary and rollercoaster years of supporting grassroots cooperative initiatives that bring Israeli Jews and Arabs together to build a shared future.
These inspiring initiatives span music, ecology, hi-tech, and religion – bridging divides, fostering meaningful relationships, and creating common ground to improve lives across communities. Despite fear and uncertainty as the conflict continues, TalkMatters remains committed to raising the profile in the UK of those working courageously toward partnership and hope.
