Time to celebrate the excellence from Mbare!

Umwe is proud to announce the first ever edition of the Mbare Excellence Awards will be held virtually on the 7th of November 2022.

The MBARE EXCELLENCE AWARDS are designed to encourage, acknowledge and reward the valuable contributions that individuals, groups and organisations are making to the Mbare community.

We will be opening the Nominations platform on the 10th of October but in the mean time you can have a look at the proposed categories and what they mean.

*Music Excellence* - Recognising an individual / Group that has been doing well in the music spheres of Mbare and beyond.

*Male Sports Person Of the year* - This award will be given to the sportsman who has displayed an outstanding level of achievement over the last year either as an individual or as part of a team in any sporting activities.

*Female Sports Person of the year* - This award will be given to the sportswoman man who has displayed an outstanding level of achievement over the last year either as an individual or as part of a team in any sporting activities.

*Visual arts Excellence Award* - This award will be given to an individual who has displayed excellence in their respective art form. This will cover visual arts art forms such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, filmmaking, design, crafts and architecture.

*Performing Arts Excellence Award* - This award will be given to an individual who has displayed excellence in their respective art form. This will cover other performing art forms such as dance, acting , and spoken words.

*Best Food Spot* - This award celebrates the food diversity in Mbare.

*Newsmaker of the Year* - Honours an individual or organization that has had the most influence on the news in a given year in the community.

*Senior of the Year* Awarded to a 45 + Mbare resident who exemplifies the spirit of community service.

*Heart of the Community Award* - Recognising a group/ company / organisation that has gone above and beyond business as usual to support a thriving, caring and connected community.

*Youth Spirit Award* - Recognising an individual under 30 who embodies community spirit through their contribution to the community.

*Life time Achievement Award* This award recognises people who have dedicated their life to a worthy cause or given to the community in a major way.
