We are each responsible for keeping ourselves and our families safe. If you are sick you can stop the spread by staying home and away from others. Our Covid-19 numbers have increased over the last few days and the primary cause is having symptoms and still choosing to be in crowds and close to others.

NEW Testing hours and days. Due to hours/staffing at the State Lab we have had to close the test site on Fridays. There will be no testing on Wednesdays, so we can conduct our Omicron Booster Drive-Thru. Testing is now only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.

03/10/2022

COMMUNITY Vaccine Drive Thru clinics for the month of October will be every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm.
Please share with friends and family. This booster is important in protecting people who have had COVID vaccines in the past. We know that the effectiveness of past vaccines do wear down after time. At this time the effectiveness of the vaccine for most people is now at a low level. This comes at a time when we are getting hit with the BA4 and BA5 variants which have proved to be very dangerous causing severe symptoms as well as hospitalization and, unfortunately, three recent deaths in the Pueblo. In order to protect yourself and your family it is very important to receive the Omicron Booster.
With the new definition of “Up to Date” according to the CDC. Your are not considered “up to date” unless you have the omicron booster. Which means, if you live/work in the Pueblo, and if you are exposed to a COVID positive case, you will be required to quarantine. Encourage your friends and family to “Get UP TO DATE”.
If you had Moderna COVID vaccines, we have been advised that it is okay to receive the Pfizer Omicron Booster. The symptoms you experience after the booster may be the same as what you experienced last time you received a COVID vaccine. Most symptoms reported to us through the month of September have been things that can be managed with ibuprofen or Tylenol and a little bit of rest.

The 2022 Monkeypox Outbreak is being closely monitored by the Laguna Community Health & Wellness Department, along with the Fire & Rescue Program and Health Education Program.

As of July 27, 2022, the U.S. currently has a total of 4,639 confirmed cases, with New Mexico totaling 7 confirmed cases, and no deaths have been reported in the U.S. or Europe. No cases reported within Laguna boundaries.

⚠️For awareness and precautionary measures, please take some time to read the attached document and share this with your friends and family members.

To date, the CDC is still learning about Monkeypox and what they still don’t know is:
❓To what extent children, people with specific underlying conditions (including those that may cause immunocompromise, eczema or atopic dermatitis), or pregnant people are at risk of severe disease.
❓Whether people with immunosuppression have more Monkeypox virus present in body fluids.
❓How often Monkeypox virus may be spread from respiratory secretions, or at what point during infection a person with monkeypox symptoms might be more likely to spread Monkeypox virus through respiratory secretions.
❓If Monkeypox virus may be present in body fluids, including oral and respiratory secretions, urine, f***s, and semen.
❓Whether Monkeypox virus can be spread through semen or vaginal fluids. Viral DNA has been detected in semen.

We will continue to keep you updated with the latest information as it becomes available. For further data, please continue to use verifiable sources such as:
