Swanley District Cub Scouts
Information, news & events - all about Cub Scouts (ages 8-10&half) in Swanley District
A massive congratulations to former ADC Cub Scouts in Swanley, Pat Roberts. This is very much well deserved, Pat has done so much for Scouts & her community over the years.
Pat Roberts, of Swanley District Scouts, has proudly been awarded a British Empire Medial in the New Years Honours list!
Pat has been a volunteer with Scouting since her September 1972, her first role was as an assistant Cub Scout Leader. Without doubt Pat became formally involved when her son joined Cubs.
In her 50 years of volunteering Pat has held various roles in Swanley Scout District, all performed in an exemplary manner, which is proved when three separate District Scout Commissioners asked Pat to join their team.
During her service Pat has been a great role model for young people, helping them to become positive citizens in their local, national and international communities. Pat helped hundreds of young people to learn respect for each other, hope to work together as a team as well as to lead others.
To keep herself up to date, Pat completed her third wood badge in April 2021 (having completed her first in 1976!).
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Pat, she deserves the recognition she has received and more!
Fantastic evening for Cub Scouts in Swanley District yesterday. 4 Cubs at Longfield & Hartley, and 2 Cubs at 1st Kingsdown received their Chief Scout Silver Awards. It's the highest award a Cub Scout can get, and it's achieved by hard work (and lots of fun!) from the Cub along with support and dedication from the Volunteer Leaders and parents too. Congratulations to you all!!
Every Cub Scout can achieve the Chief Scout Silver Award. However, with the pandemic being in full swing just as our young people were starting Cubs, it's been an extra challenge, especially trying to get that nights away. A real testament to the hard work & determination of our young people and adult volunteers!
To get the Chief Scout Silver the Cub Scout needs to get all 7 of the challenge badges and at least 6 activities and stage badges.
Chief Scout's Silver Award This is the highest award a Cub can earn.
