"The Ramakien Murals are wall paintings depicting the epic literary tale of the Ramakien, lining the surrounding cloister of the main ordination hall at Wat Phra Kaew (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha). Comprising 178 panels in total, the murals date back to the reign of King Rama I and underwent major touch-ups under King Rama II and King Rama III. During the reign of King Rama V, a full restoration was ordered to mark the Bangkok Centennial, for which the King personally composed 224 poetic stanzas (Khlong) to accompany eight of the panels."
