I usually don't care for days that single out a group, but this group has been marginalized far too long. We as Canadians need to do better, and it starts with recognizing the pain our First Nations brother and sisters have experienced, listening to their stories, engaging with their thoughts, and finding a way to mend our broken relationships. Every new "discovery" of the atrocities inflicted on the First Nations peoples breaks my heart, but hopefully today is the day that will move us forward.
The theme this year is "Leaving no one behind: Indigenous Peoples and the call for a new social contract" and its focus is on celebrating the diverse cultures and languages of our First Nations, while also reflecting on their contributions to what shaped our world today. We also reflect on the horrors that many went through, the discrimination that many faced, and the failed social contract that resulted in the virtual erasure of these great men and women, and on the insidious attitudes that continue to permeate the tendrils of society.
I'm fortunate enough to have First Nations friends and neighbours who are open to discussions, but I'm always looking to expand my knowledge. If there's anyone who would like to open a dialogue with me on what you feel is the most important thing to keep in mind, or anyone who'd like to share their story, on today of all days, please let me know.

Selling myths are everywhere! We donāt want you falling victim to any of these false facts, so letās get started busting some of the most common myths that us agents frequently see:
š«Ā A quick offer means the propertyās priced too low ā a quick offer doesnāt necessarily have anything to do with the price of the home and various reasons like location and staging couldāve made it a more desirable candidate.
š«Ā Overpricing a home results in a higher sale price ā donāt fall for this! If you price your home higher than whatās normal for the area, you risk scaring buyers away and leaving your home on the market too long.
š«Ā The longer the marketing time, the better the offers ā though marketing is a big part of your home-selling strategy, typically the longer a home sits on the market the lower the potential offer.
š«Ā The house sells itself ā even if your house has impeccable design, selling your home gets much deeper! Organizing the entire sellingĀ process, getting the property cleaned and ready forĀ viewings, decluttering & staging, creating a full marketing strategy, hosting open houses, researching your target market, identifying your consumers, strategically pricing your property for the market, maximizing exposure, negotiating every aspect of the sale, preparing for closing and finding your next dream home are just some of the factors we focus on during the selling process!
Buying a home probably came with a whole host of stressors you probably didnāt imagine.Ā (hands up if you agreeĀ š)
But on the flip side, remember that feeling of receiving the keys and opening the door to the home you could call yours? It was a moment where you definitely have the right to call yourself an adult for once in your life.Ā š
What was that process like for you? Drop your stories down below in the comments!
