Suffering arises out of the degree to which we are unconscious 😶‍🌫️

Much of the material that lets us live the way we do, is hidden from us 🤯

we live our lives out of dynamics, that we’re not even conscious/aware of 😵

people largely live lives that are unconscious that arises from early childhood experiences

We're programmed in a certain way, and out of that programming we live our lives but that programming is unconscious. So, we do things for reasons unknown. We have a compulsion or habit to repeat these patterns, because these very patterns helped us survive in the first place, at a young age, so there’s a fear or hesitation in giving them up.

🟡These patterns no longer serve us, serve a function and so instead of protecting us, these patterns create suffering.

🟡At a young age, we learned that reality is difficult and painful and so there is a subconscious fear to protect us from reality.

🟡It is through this unveiling of the unconscious that we get to liberate ourselves, be our true selves, confident, authentic self, our voice and awaken our souls and best potential in life.

Nervous system regulation: the first step to building stress resilience

With all that’s going on in the world, I felt compelled to share some ways we can build resilience to stress & more importantly begin to regulate & calm our nervous system. As a whole, we collectively co-regulate & so what you do for your nervous system will help you as it will the whole collective

🌀The Vagus nerve is the main nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system that allows us to rest/digest, & responsible for helping your body to return to a state of balance. it innervates or communicates with the brain, gut and other organs

🌀vagal tone exercises helps us strengthen that nerve so that we can regulate, calm our nervous system, improve our response & resilience to stress, emotions or triggers.

🌀The vagal tone literally sets the tone with how we respond and recover from stress.

🌀causes of poor or low vagal tone is from: chronic stress, trauma, brain injury, toxicity and more. so we want high vagal tone to better regulate or calm our nervous system, which relaxes & de stresses us, and we can get that by: simply extending the duration of our phrases, singing, humming, chanting, deep belly breathing where our exhale is longer than our inhale, playing a wind instrument even and meditation.

The body is a doorway to access some of these unconscious suppressed emotions or experiences:

❤️The body keeps score

❤️The body is wise

❤️The body is also the doorway, the window to access information of suppressed emotions, feelings, memories, experiences that we can release, express and heal

❤️Body work, such as breathwork, stretching, yin yoga, meditation allows us to slow down, to really be with ourselves, to be the compassionate inquirer of what’s arising, what’s present emotionally, mentally, physically in this moment

Sometimes responding to acute or chronic stress, trauma, burnout and other painful experiences, we can go into a fawn/freeze response or fight/flight response, not being able to fully digest or process this experience, so it gets held in the cellular memories of our body in different ways and is also the way we can be liberated from these subconscious pain that may be playing out in toxic ways in life. This also can compromise the nervous system, which allows us to build resilience to stress and recover from a stressful experience.

Likely it’s no coincidence repetitive patterns or themes in your life happen. Some people write it off as fate, just the way it is or their luck but sometimes it’s an unconscious threading waiting for the light of your awareness & healthy relationship & integration with it.

🟡Having unconscious things run your life can simply look like suffering, pain, or dissatisfaction. Inner critic, judgement or self-limiting beliefs. Toxic destructive behaviors

🟡Sometimes excavating these unconscious, blind spots that lay further beyond our awareness can be tricky. simple practices to help w/ this: journaling, body work, meditation, self-check in.

“if you do not address your childhood traumas. Your romantic relationships will.”

I came across this quote yesterday and it illustrates how unaddressed past experiences can unknowingly affect our lives.

Reading that resonated, as I had toxic relationship patterns in the past that I was unaware of at the time.

🟠When past childhood wounds are unhealed, we try to hash it out & resolve it in our adult relationships, usually unconsciously which may lead to frustration and toxic relationships, codependency, addictive or destructive behaviors/patterns.
