Insulin supply, as per experts, can be improved with diet and workout. A conventional approach to diabetes management, turns out that there are other ways too that could help increase insulin sensitivity.

The first solution is getting ample sleep. Some studies have also shown how being sleep deprived even for one night can reduce insulin sensitivity. But the good news here is that the same effect can be reversed by just catching up on lost sleep.

Besides getting ample sleep, managing stress levels for better insulin sensitivity is also recommended. Feelings of stress stimulate the release of cortisol and glucagon in the body which breaks glycogen – a form of sugar – into glucose which enters blood stream to spike sugar levels.

Over time, this can spike blood sugar drastically increasing diabetes risk. It can also be detrimental to heart health owing to the damage caused to arteries. Overtime, stress makes the body resistant to insulin. Experts recommend practicing mindfulness to dodge risk of insulin sensitivity.
