We have some bittersweet news to share with our wonderful community. Our beloved Dr. Katrina Troppy is embarking on a new and exciting chapter in her life. She will be moving to Tennessee to get married! 💍💕✨

Dr. Troppy has been an integral part of our Swann Animal Clinic at Hillside team, providing exceptional care and compassion to all our furry friends. She will be deeply missed by all of us at Swann Animal Clinic and by all the pets and pet parents she has cared for over the past four years.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Troppy on her upcoming nuptials and wishing her all the best in her new journey. While we are sad to see her go, we are thrilled for the happiness and adventures that await her in Tennessee.

Also, this is your friendly reminder not to give your dog corn cobs, rib bones, or fatty foods, resulting in hospitalization or surgery. 🐶

To help you get ready for July 4th, follow these 5 helpful tips:

1.) Refill anxiety medications for your pets, even while they're boarding if you're out of town for the holiday.

2.) We'll be closed on July 4th, so make sure you've refilled any prescriptions or food before running out.

3.) Traveling for the holiday? Ensure your pet is up-to-date on vaccinations when boarding or traveling with you. If traveling with your pet by plane or car, ensure you have the proper health certificates to cross state lines and international borders/waters.

4.) Avoid feeding dogs table scraps that are high in fat or likely to be ingested whole and cause issues (rib bones, corn cobs, skewers, etc.)

5.) Keep your pet secure and check that its chip information is current. If your pet escapes and is picked up, having up-to-date contact information is vital for reunification.

If you're a pet lover, you've undoubtedly heard the story of R***r Simpson. A local good Samaritan found him in rough shape and later brought him to us, where we scanned his microchip. To everyone's surprise, he had one; it was registered, and he'd been missing from his family for SEVEN YEARS. So let's talk about that:

But more importantly, R***r's story is an excellent reminder that getting your pet microchipped can save their life.

Each time your pet comes to see us, we scan them to see if they have a microchip and update the number in our database. More importantly, we recommend that when life changes happen, i.e., you move, change your phone number, etc., you include updating your pet's microchip contact information. We're happy to provide this service if you have an animal that isn't microchipped.
