Taking the time to reflect back on this weekend workshop at the Kaza Kamba festival at the market theatre with my brother and colleague on our 1st workshop together.

It was an absolute pleasure, wholesome discovery and fulfilling educational moment for both of us and the participants. It was amazing to witness people from different socio-economic backgrounds in one space and within that, satisfying to experience them releasing and breaking ground and learning new information about themselves, bodies and voices.

The moment that stood out for was witnessing one lady who discovered how much breath alleviated her severe social anxiety, and another realised that breath made close up more than she’d have appreciated.

As breath is deeply connected to voice and body the discoveries were absolutely stunning to see faces light up, tears of relief and reaching new pockets of tone and vibrations. The curiosity of equal weight distribution and the role that breath played that resulted into a playful and engaging awareness was an inspiration for more of these experiences.
