“The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” – Henry David Thoreau
💯I’m all about this👇
This!!! 🙌🏻💗
This does not mean that you should strive for a Pinterest house, it is actually quite the opposite. Your home should be for you and your family, and you should have things in it that you love, regardless if they are on trend or look aesthetically pleasing to others.
More importantly though, the things you love could be the things that make your home functional and easy to care for. They could be a good broom, a beautiful basket or convenient shoe rack.
When you have too many things in your home, choices are overwhelming and the clutter detracts from the enjoyment of the things you actually love.
Double tap if you agree!
I’m so glad you’re here!
When people ask what my plans are for the weekend, you can usually bet on some sort of creative project.
I was gone the last two weekends traveling and visiting loved ones, which filled my cup and also reminded me how important it is to keep the balance.
This weekend, my plan is to upgrade my home office for a lighter, more productive space.
What’s on your agenda this weekend?
Paint of course!
Sherwin Williams, Alabaster SW 7008, to be exact. My favorite white because the undertones are very neutral and seems to compliment every space I’ve used it in.
Living on a boat with young children was an adventure for sure! It was a lot of work and we spent most weekends maintaining the boat, prepping for the week and running to the laundromat. We could only buy a small amount of groceries at a time and each of us had a very small space to keep our personal possessions. There wasn’t much privacy and we definitely got on each others nerves from time to time 🙃. But what a cool experience that we wouldn’t trade for the world!
We learned valuable lessons about our material possessions. Mostly that we did not need much to be content. We also had a lot of multi-functional items that we shared.
My kids played outside most of the day, and although we didn’t have room for many toys, they managed to always find fun.
As I sit here and reminisce, I’m looking around at my possessions and even though I still consider myself on the minimal side, it is interesting to see how much I have accumulated. Not a judgement but something I will contemplate…do I have this stuff to just fill a bigger space or does it add a greater value to my life somehow?
Last fall I gave it a makeover and today I sold this cute little camper to a young couple excited to buy it! It felt good to see how much they appreciated the work and attention to detail I put into it.
Minimalism isn’t the absence of things, it’s the presence of what matters. Stripping away the things that clutter our spaces and our minds so we can focus on the things that enrichen our lives.
Appreciating the turn to warmer weather this week. It is finally feeling more like spring in the PNW. Some natural elements from my yard are a simple pleasure and reminder that Spring is here!
Having less stuff in my home definitely reduces my stress.
🌿Less to work around when cleaning
🌿Less to organize
🌿Less visual stimulation
🌿Less money spent
🌿More space, more time, more calm
I found this lamp at a thrift store and gave it an update to better match my style. The hammered white spray paint resulted in a ceramic look which is exactly what I wanted.
My favorite general cleaning product is Dr. Bronner’s Eucalyptus Pure Castile Soap🫧
I buy a 1 gallon jug and it lasts me a full year!
🌿Natural, vegetable base & non-toxic
🌿The scent is fresh and clean.
🌿Sometimes I add essential oils like lavender.
🌿I use it on wood floors, countertops, walls and bathroom.
🌿I even clean my car interior leather and surfaces with it!
Decluttering for a more peaceful home.
I am in the process of going through my home again to find things that I no longer like or use. Unfinished projects or left over materials are out the door to make room for new ideas and DIYs.
Living in a small home leaves little choice but to edit down to only the things that you need or that you love enough to give up space for.
This felt really good and I’m not done yet either!
Small minuscule changes over time result in profound results. Leave perfectionism and all-or-nothing behaviors behind for real change that will have lasting impact on any area of your life.
This book explains what a habit is, how a habit is formed and how to build new ones. Specific techniques for changing or creating new habits.
I can’t recommend this book enough!
Eucalyptus hung in the bathroom is basically a natural diffuser. Steam from the shower releases the plant essential oils, for a calming spa-like experience. Not only does it smell great, but it is also aesthetically pleasing.
🌿Best if you lightly roll the eucalyptus bunch before hanging for maximum oil release.

In search of materials for my next project, I stopped here first as always. Reclaimed lumber, cabinets, vintage hardware, tools, flooring, architectural pieces…ahh..the possibilities are endless!
Nothing new was purchased to establish order in this kitchen. Grouping like items and storing them close to the area was the method. The end goal was counterspace and designated activity areas (like the coffee center), a plus is that it looks tidy too!
