Did you know you can get a $80 annual park pass and visit all national parks?

We explored Olympic National Park yesterday ⛰ and it was amazing! Being able to be at a park, in the mountains, while seeing the ocean 🌊 and Canada across the way 🇨🇦 is unreal!

Let’s cover some cool facts that will make you want to pack your bags and go:

• There are 100,000 more acres of wilderness in the Olympic National Park than the entire acreage of Rhode Island

• The Olympic Mountains formed over 30 million years ago and there are 60 named glaciers on the peaks of the Olympics 😱

• At 7,979 feet tall, Mount Olympus is the highest peak in the park... but it still can’t be seen from any city.

• Olympic Marmots can’t be found anywhere else in the world. These adorable rodents can only be seen on the middle elevations of the Olympic Peninsula. They're about the size of a typical house cat, with a long, distinct bushy tail. We had a cute guy come up to us at the Hurricane ridge visitor center (swipe right)

• The ecosystem variety results in over 1,200 types of plants. There are four types of forest alone, including montane, alpine, lowland, and temperate rain forest. 🌳

Pretty neat huh?

Hike wise, we did this:
Trail: Hurricane hill via Hurricane ridge
Rated: moderate
Length: 3.4 miles out and back
Incline: 800+ feet 👣
Notes: bring snacks and plenty of water, great bench view points at top to enjoy lunch, 95% is paved and straight up incline so make sure you have hiking boots and you’re comfortable! The views of the glaciers, mountains, ocean, and Victoria B.C. are so worth it! Keep climbing 🥾

Tell me if you go or if you’ve been!! 👏🏻 excited to hear from you. — with Courtney VanAuken at Olympic National Park.

We just hiked 6 miles through a river 🏔 between canyons

Add the narrows at Zion National Park to your bucket list immediately

FYI: get waterproof hiking shoes & rent Neoprene socks 🧦 in Springdale at Zion Adventure beforehand!!

• Parking is limited in Zion so hop on the free shuttle at the visitors center once in the park and take to stop 9 (temple of Sinawava) and take River walk trail to the trail head for the Narrows! Get ready to be wet waist high until you reach the junction.
