The USF Maternal and Child Health Student Organization (MCHSO) is holding their 14th annual Spring Symposium March 23-24, 2023. The symposium will be held both in person at the Marshall Student Center and virtually on Microsoft Teams.

Have you heard of the Weathering Effect? It’s a term used to describe the chronic stresses placed on People of Color, especially mothers. The Chiles Center has been working to address the Weathering Effect through various methods listed here.

This is a perfect opportunity for those interested in applying their knowledge to practice to reduce health disparities and champion for refugee health!
We are pleased to present to you all a newly re-vamped program within our college!
Dr. Anna Armstrong and Dr. Parandosh Boger-Sadeghinia share their re-imagined program, MCH Scholars for Justice, where graduate students and faculty guide and mentor ANY undergrads interested in maternal and child health, regardless of major! The year-long program runs from summer to summer and focuses on engaging undergraduate students in social justice research and initiatives ranging from health disparities, the social determinants of health, racism, and new this year, refugee health, along with mentoring opportunities for graduate students.
This is a GREAT opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students alike, especially those looking for new opportunities in social justice research.

We are pleased to announce the launching of the MCH Job Board on the UIC Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health website! The MCH Job Board serves as a resource for current and former MCH students across the nation as well as others looking for maternal and child health job opportunities and postdoctoral fellowships as well as those who want to post such opportunities. New opportunities are posted as they are received, and will be removed weekly based on the noted deadlines or a month after the posting date.

C-sections are on the rise in the South, and it's becoming a persistent problem Despite years of efforts to reduce the use of cesarean sections in delivering babies, rates remain high, especially in the South. Black women, particularly, are more likely to give birth by C-section.
