The winter solstice is tomorrow! It’s the shortest day, longest night of the year.

In ancient Mesopotamia, the winter solstice was celebrated as a festival of light, with people lighting fires and candles to symbolize the return of the sun.

Lucky for me I make candles and we have a log fire…. we had a test run with both in a sudden blackout last night!

Some things just make me happy!

I had a mould of my logo made and thought I’d see if Shower Steamers worked with it. THEY DO!

One for you…one for me!

I’m obsessed with wax melts at the moment, so when I ordered in a melter in for an order… I got a new one for me too!

Melts date back to the Egyptians who made cubes of beeswax infused with essential oils to melt in the sun. I use fragrance oils and a candle…the melter is so pretty lit up and my house smells amazing. Did I mention I’m a bit obsessed 😂

Spell jars date back to the 1600s and were used as protection for the home buried by the front door of fire.

These jars were also encased in walls when building and have even appeared on Antiques Roadshow, often discovered by renovators.

Ear wax was the original lip balm…lucky for you I don’t subscribe to that method…

Tonight is the pink moon, bringing growth, self reflection and letting go of things.

This moon is in Scorpio, which will make it easer to reassess and work out things you need to let go of, focus on personal growth and self-discovery… it is said that for all zodiac signs, the pink moon 2024 will bring positive changes in love.

The Incas believed lunar eclipses were caused by an animal or serpent attacking Mama Quilla, their Moon goddess, who cried silver tears. The colour of the moon during the eclipse is caused by the creature attacking her.

However, Incan warriors would make as much noise as possible and make their dogs bark and howl to scare away the creature and save their goddess…

These days we think a lunar eclipse is a time for reflection, understanding and rejuvenation.

The moon is in Leo which is about tapping into our creativity, passions, and desires.

Tonight is the night for you to write down all the things that no longer serve you and that you want to let go and release from your life… then burn your piece of paper and release it all! 🔥

It’s a New moon! And falling on 111 which represents fresh starts. This is ideal since this new moon is in Capricorn, which is about leaving your comfort zone to make positive changes and try new things.

In ancient Rome, new year celebrations occurred on the first full moon in March with the festival of Anna Perenna whose the goddess of the year. The festival was a time of feasting and drinking, and people would exchange gifts and make wishes for the new year..
