NEW INTERNATIONAL TEAM INTRODUCTION
I was delighted to be asked to work with Fondazione Il Bottone and on their most recent project ‘Ti Ascolto’, meaning ‘I hear you’. Early-stage depression is in its different forms close to everyone’s heart. It can affect us all but for those who progress from the early-stages life becomes very difficult and long-lasting. The Foundation has a great team and has realistic and focused ambitions to provide those suffering from early-stage depression with creative and practical early interventions internationally.
Due to my multicultural background and internship experiences, I have developed a strong interest in neuropsychology, migration, and clinical psychology. In February 2024, I began a one-year specialization course in Neuropsychology, with the goal of contributing to the neurodegenerative disorders field, as I believe that operating in mental health requires ongoing training.
After meeting with Lorenzo, the vision of Il Bottone resonated within me. To empower people through the arts is something beautiful - and Il Bottone does all that and more. With the upcoming projects and research we try to make an impact on our fast changing world, with mental health as our main goal.

“ERUPTING”
Text extract by
“Because pain is more painful, if silent„ Giovanni Pascoli - Nuovi Poemetti (1909) - from “Il prigioniero”
Contemporary society, bold and unpredictable, heralding significant and rapid changes, advocating for fortuitous goals and unexpected luxurious suffering, increasingly and swiftly becomes saturated with nefarious feelings that converge into what we all know as a sense of disorientation or the experience of emptiness, one of the constitutive stages of collective life. The consequence of all this is undoubtedly the pathologization of anger, an excessive and sudden feeling characterized by overwhelming anguish, pressing and irreducible, a mere signal that something is not going in the right direction.
In this regard, Aristotle, in his treatise on ethics titled Nicomachean Ethics, probably dedicated to his father Nicomachus, states that virtue perpetually teeters between excess and deficiency, emphasizing that every virtue and vice are neither inherently good nor bad: they are simply a matter of symmetrical harmony. This also applies to anger.

Karakashyan & Artists is a multidisciplinary company of dance artists from Bulgaria, boldly moving through disciplines and brought together by director and choreographer Kosta Karakashyan.
In a world where people often feel like spectators of their own lives we create unique large-scale immersive productions which resonate viscerally with audience members and place them at the center of the work. Informed by a desire to explore the ways stories are told and experienced, Karakashyan & Artists embraces the beauty of the intimate, the visceral, and the subversive. Our work is set in kitchens, landfills, public spaces, warehouses, beaches, toilets, caves, runways, and film sets, incorporating dance, theatre, film, design, and literature. We redefine the boundaries in our creative approach to find new exciting opportunities to incorporate our love for dance, society, and culture.
We create experiences that empower the audience to go on an evocative emotional journey through the synergy of movement and storytelling. We aim to cultivate empathy and tenderness in society and to advocate for social change through our art. Our process explores a movement language that subverts traditional dance vocabulary in favor of authentic emotional expression, inviting our collaborators to follow their own impulses, creativity, and agency.

Pleasantly introducing
Kosta Karakashyan is a Bulgarian-Armenian director, producer, choreographer, and writer exploring empathy and emotion through motion.
He has built a prolific body of work, moving through disciplines including film, music videos, commercials, choreography, installations, theatre and immersive performances produced alongside his production company Studio Karakashyan and dance company Karakashyan & Artists. His work has been described as “an important voice for LGBTQ+ struggles in Chechnya and elsewhere” by The Columbia Spectator and has been featured by NOWNESS, The New Yorker, The Guardian and ELLE and across the USA, Canada, Germany, Norway, Egypt, Vietnam and Japan.
He brings visceral physical expression and strong storytelling to his projects, which often tackle social topics such as the lives of LGBTQ+ people in Eastern Europe, mental health, and the climate crisis. He is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in the Arts & Culture category for his interdisciplinary work and commitment to tackling social topics through art.
