Ajah Tabitha Chol Manyiel, one of the graduates at KIU's 29th graduation ceremony on Saturday 13th, July 2024 has admitted that the University greatly changed her life.
The South Sudanese International finally received her Bachelor of International Relations and Diplomatic Studies. She told us how it feels to achieve this milestone.
"It feels so good, especially being a self sponsored student who has been working very hard to make ends meet," she said.
Besides achieving her ultimate goal in Kampala, Chol is thankful to KIU for greatly transforming her life.
"KIU has changed my life greatly. I have learnt how to lead people, socialize with students from different backgrounds as well as express myself freely," she noted.
Tabitha Chol was one of the most influential students' leaders at KIU while serving as President of the KIU South Sudan Students Association (2023-2024).
"Leading the South Sudanese Students at KIU was also a very great experience for me. It taught me a lot but also opened quite a number of doors for me," she explained.
After graduation, Chol is shifting her focus towards helping her Country establish a healthy relationship with the rest of the World.
"My goal is to contribute to a positive relationship between South Sudan and the world at large," she declared.

Thank you Mr President Mahoth Rong for writing my story to inspire young people out there. I am truly grateful that some of them shall be motivated. π

This is very sad
Heroic act from my uncle, Biar Manyiel
In the 1980s, my uncle Biar was driving a big vehicle in Khartoum and as he was crossing the bridge, there was a bus coming in front of him. The two vehicles were about to have head on collision thus had to think of what to do immediately.
He drove his vehicle into the river to save the lives of the students who he thought would contribute to the country more than he would do.
He revealed this story just before he passed on.
When my auntie Abuol Mayen narrated this story to me, I was left in awe. I just can't imagine how someone did that for the sake of many who he didn't even have blood relations with. I'm glad to be coming from such a family of people who sacrifice so much such that others can live.

π Facebook recognized me as a top rising creator this week!
On this great Day for the Girl Child,
Peter, the British man in my life
I would like to travel to the UK, and Peter's response would be, it's not only UK that you will travel to. There are so many countries across the world that you will visit. Tabitha, you're going to be a great woman; a very powerful person.
Peter, you're traveling to Sierra Leone soon. Is it possible for me to come along with you some day? Oh yes my little Tabitha. It's not only Sierra Leone you will travel to; there are so many countries you will be visiting too.
It's weekend, can we take our little girl out to one of the biggest hotels around to see new things, swim and socialize with new friends? He would tell his wife. Then a call reached school quickly and I would be on my way to White Castle to spend my weekend there. Those who ever stayed in Arua could probably know this place.
My little Tabitha, I'm traveling to the UK soon. Which books would you like me to buy for you? I would tell him which books and the t-shirt I wanted and he would come back with them. He also surprised me with novels as gifts. He sat me next to him and asked me to read out loud so he could judge my reading. I loved answering crossword puzzles and he didn't miss to come with them even if I didn't request for them. When I was 13, I had already learned reading very big novels. π₯°π₯°
On my bed, he would walk to check on me and ask in his caring voice if I was comfortable sleeping in that room or not. In case of any discomfort, I would be shifted to a more comfortable room. He also called almost every evening to ask his wife if I had had supper and if yes, did I enjoy it? Wow! If caring was a name of a person!
During holidays, he took me to see my family in Juba and often visited me in Uncle Kuol Malith's home. He didn't just send me back to Uganda with a driver but instead called his wife to pick me up from Juba and come along with me.
While in Juba, I didn't use the tank water to brush with. He always provided me with a big bottle of mineral water for brushing saying the other water was not clean. He prepared our breakfast as early as possible and called me to have it with him.
In school, some pupils asked me why I was dark yet my father was a white ππ because of the care he gave me. I remember he visited Arua and found me when I had gone to plait my hair. He went straight to the salon and gave me a warm hug. All women in the salon were surprised to see someone of a different race love the little girl that much.
This is a brief story of my stay with my British family. Peter awakened so much energy of self worth in me to always believe in myself.
He inspired the girl child in me. It's one of the reasons I don't care who needs my help because I was at some point raised by someone who has a different skin colour from mine.
This is one of the the reasons no man can use places like Pyramid to convince me because I had enough of it in my childhood. He made the little girl in me to have confidence.
I dedicate this International Day for Girl Child to you my lovely Peter McCann! I am missing you so much and I hope that life can make our paths cross some day. Much love π₯°π₯°π₯°

The feeling of seeing your brothers buy almost everything for a girlfriend such as Iphone 14 Pro Max etc yet give their sisters something called "ignore" is alarming. Should we stop sending boys to school or talk about it?
Don't roast me alive oh, it's Independence Day here in Uganda. πππππ
