Virtual and augmented reality represents a new era of human engagement with technology—technology that has kept us connected when we cannot physically come together.

On 3 of November, the Australian High Commissioner, Her Excellency Sara Moriarty, delivered the opening remarks at the graduation ceremony of the Virtual and Augmented Reality training program in Samoa.

This training was made possible through the collective effort of DP Immersive, SkyEye, and The Hub Pacific, with support from Pacific Connect.

Pacific Connect is a program funded by the Australian Government and implemented by the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships, designed to forge stronger, strategic-level relationships between Pacific and Australian leaders across government, business and community groups.

Last week, we hosted a fun student workshop in our . This was facilitated by Okalani Mariner of Onelook Studio . The main goal of this workshop was to inspire and inform primary school students on the next step in their education and career planning

Students who dream of becoming an and/or a creative art-reprenuer were introduced to basic graphic design and sticker making. Teachers and students are given a hands-on learning experience and the chance to meet with those in their dream job. After the workshop, these bright young minds asked questions like

> What are some subjects that I should study if I want to start a business?
> How did you price your products and decide on different specials, bundles or discounts?
> How did you know or decide on what kind of artistic designs or products will sell?

Congratulations to Onelook Studio for hosting their first Creative Workshop and the 'Most Popular Teacher of The Year Award' definitely goes to Ellyse Dunn - whose students were so excited to be invited into a production studio and a fandom gift store

Young entrepreneur keen on boosting education through digital hub

Grateful to Solivalealofiolenu'u & the Team at Samoa Observer for today's feature article!

This kind of exposure is invaluable for a small business like The Hub Samoa and we are so grateful for all your interest, support, and online engagement with our brand.

It's been a lil' radio silent on here... sorry for the hiatus. I'm still trying to get the hang of juggling multiple things at once but there heaps of activities going on in order to get our digital products and shared spaces ready for market.

Thank you for being so patient with us as we develop our small business into one that can make an impact on education and innovation in Samoa. We have been working hard these last couple of months and our team is so excited to share all that hard work with you real soon.

To support our work, please like and share this post with your friends who are interested in and STAY TUNED ✨ We have a special product update for you at the end of this month!

Young entrepreneur keen on boosting education through digital hub A 23-year-old entrepreneur, Olisana Mariner has just returned from the 2019 Youth Co:Lab Summit in Vietnam with more passion to try and improve Samoa's education system.Essentially the Hub is a high-end, mini-conference room for up to 10 people where they can come together, share ideas, find syne...

This month, members from Samoa's first Youth Co:Lab met with a team from the United Nations. For one hour we talked about innovative financing solutions for young entrepreneurs. It was a GREAT discussion! I found out that there were several others willing to champion youth through co-working spaces and other support services.

After our meeting, I took a drive with my mate (and tour guide) Chris to explore Samoa Highland Hideaway - a peaceful paradise nestled in the Aleisa hills. First-time visitor to Samoa? Local resident looking for a getaway? You should definitely check it out!

PTI Pitchfest for Young Entrepreneurs | The Hub Samoa | Vlog #001

Had so much fun with PBSE and PTI this month!
On 12 October 2018, we were one of 18 Young Samoan Entrepreneurs that participated in the Pacific Trade and Invest's inaugural pitchfest for impact investment in the Pacific!
Each participant had to tell their personal story and present a business case for social enterprise in front of four distinguished investors from New Zealand & Australia. In turn, they received valuable business advice, industry mentorship, and impact investment to help turn their ideas into a reality. Here's a sneek peek from the day!

Have a read and let me know what you think!

Youth empowerment for social good: Samoan start-up seeks to digitally revolutionise education - Openforum A young Samoan entrepreneur with a passion for education and technology, Olisana Mariner, talks about her recent visit to Sydney to participate in the Pacific Connect Forum and a mentoring session at Stone & Chalk, Asia’s largest fintech start-up hub.

Last week The Hub participated in Samoa's first Shark Tank & Pitchfest run by Pacific Trade Invest Australia and the Samoa Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

It was an exhilarating experience to pitch in front of an esteemed panel of investors and business leaders from the Pacific. I also enjoyed the time spent fellowshipping with other young entrepreneurs who operate in different industries. These are the creative minds building businesses that will disrupt local industries and positively impact Samoa's community.

is on the rise and more people are looking to businesses that not only meet profitable goals but socially-conscious goals. Businesses that provide solutions meeting local and global challenges with passion and a firm resolve.

Special thanks to Leata and the team at PT&I; Lemauga and the Samoa Chamber of Commerce; and the judges - Bill, Kristen, Joe and Bernard - for their time and resources spent building this platform and creating opportunities for youth. Fa'afetai, fa'afetai tele lava!
