Operating as usual
It’s a beautiful day today, and by happy coincidence it’s also the first day of our annual rosé sale! All 2020 rosé still wines are 25% off now through March 28 or while supplies last. At the moment we have 20 to choose from....
These are the folks who bought the former Ganache on Pine Street. Their chocolates are delicious, by the way.
Zionsville shop raises money, awareness for Ukraine through chocolate The owners of Truffles and Creams Chocolatier in Zionsville are raising money and awareness for their home country of Ukraine amid an invasion by Russia.
March is Youth Art Month, so for the next few weeks you can come by our store and see art that Zionsville students have created. Other merchants have art on display too, so visit downtown and look around!
We’re sorry to see you go. Come visit!
From our fabulous staff and their spouses, thanks for a great ten-plus years in Fishers!
Another chapter in my life story has ended. The Wine Guy Fishers chapter has been one of the best in the story. Many characters have come and gone, boy I can really LOL regarding a few. One will usually refer to their work folk as coworkers. We are FRIENDS and FAMILY…always have been and will be.
We’ve lost parents and pets. Our kids have graduated high school AND college. We’ve had weddings and new grandkids. Some folks have retired a few times and some moved too far away.
Our customers, AKA friends. Too numerous to count. Some I’ve known for 17 years, some for 10 years. A lot have retired to South Carolina (maybe a good place to open a nice wine shop). I look forward to seeing some of them in the next chapter titled Back to Zionsville.
Need something exceptional for the Belgian beer lover on your list? Knock their Christmas socks off with a three-liter bottle of Chimay Grande Réserve or a limited-edition magnum of St. Bernardus Abt 12! Both are highly rated, and suitable for drinking or cellaring. Quantities are limited.

Cookies may not seem like something that would pair with wine, but savory cookies made with cheese sure do!
Seven Sweet-Savory Cookies To Make with Cheese Of course today is National Cookie Day, because it's most definitely cookie season. Even though it's been a while since I poured a glass of milk and put a Switch up your holiday baking routine with recipes featuring gouda, blue cheese, goat cheese, and more.
We’ve added another hard cider to our inventory, this one from Germany. Fuchshof Classic German Cider is a blend of juice from apples and pears. Blending apples and pears is a traditional practice in German cideries.
Jonagold and Braeburn apples are used as well as Austrian Speckbirne and Schweizer Wasserbirne pears from Switzerland. The apples and pears are crushed after harvest and then wrapped in canvas. A board is then placed on top of this layer. A total of 10 layers are created in this fashion. With a stack of 10 layers, the crushed apples and pears are ready for pressing to extract the juice. It then undergoes a natural fermentation.
Crisp and refreshing, it’s complex with a nice undercurrent of funkiness. The pears add a nice depth of character. The structure tends towards the tart with enough tannin to keep things in balance. It’s 6.5 percent ABV, and $13.99 for a 750ml bottle.
It’s a good time to treat yourself (and others)!
It’s Autumn, and we’re here for it!
Here’s a good guide to deciphering wine labels.
How to Read a Wine Label, in 12 Easy Lessons (Published 2020) The wine shop can be intimidating, with so many different styles of labeling. Here’s help in decoding a dozen basic types.
It’s September 1, which means Oktoberfest starts in a couple of weeks! This year the official dates are September 18 through October 3, and though COVID has scuttled the festivities in Munich for a second year celebratory beer is still available here.
The Ayinger Fest-Märzen is in stock now, and its price is unchanged at $3.99 per 500ml bottle. Come in and grab some, or order online if you prefer: https://zionsville.grapevinecottage.com/beer/Ayinger-Oktober-Fest-Marzen-w4867674kp
We’re bumping this post up because we just unearthed a few more cases of it in the cellar and decided to mark it down to $29.99. It is Kosher, so putting a little away for Sukkot and Chanukah might be a good idea....
We still have a little bit of the Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, which was #83 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2020 list. It’s powerful and elegant, with full tannins that stand up well to a grilled ribeye. Nice nose, too.
These beers from Cascade Brewing and The Bruery are really good but we’re tired of looking at them. They retail for $21.99 - $32.99 per bottle, but are now *just $8.99 each* while supplies last. All are in 750ml bottles.
In case you didn’t know, you’ll find our sake right next to our sockeye.
Grilling weather is definitely here, so it’s time to stock up on BBQ Reds! Our annual sampler case is still just $149.99 (and makes a better Father's Day gift than a tie or pair of socks).
Come on in and pick one up, or order online with the link below:
On a hot summer day it’s hard to beat a crisp, refreshing, slightly effervescent Vinho Verde! The Aveleda has a convenient screwcap closure and is affordably priced at $9.99. It pairs well with grilled white fish, too.
It appears that Italian washing machines have a couple of additional settings that could potentially be useful to wine drinkers....
If you were looking for a sure sign that Spring has arrived, here it is — our annual Deck Wine Sampler is all boxed up and ready to go! Twelve white wines with tasting notes, just $152.99 plus tax.

Zionsville’s annual Brick Street Market is this coming Saturday (more about that here: https://www.zionsvillechamber.org/brick-street-market.html.) That means Main Street will be closed, so you’ll want to plan to take the back way in to our store.
To do that, drive north from Sycamore St. / 116th St. / SR 334 on Elm Street, which is the street that runs along the west edge of Lions Park. After you go through the three-way stop at Oak Street, turn left into the alley between Wulber Accounting and ZWorks to get into our parking lot. Easy peasy!
Psst. We’re open – pass it on! Bring a mask.
Cheese Actually Isn’t Bad for You Don’t feel sheepish reaching for that manchego. Cheese doesn’t deserve its unhealthy reputation.
February 18 is National Drink Wine Day! It’s also National Crab-Stuffed Flounder Day, so maybe a white?

Recipes from the Grapevine Cottage There is a popular chain of Pizzarias in St. Louis called Imo's that makes great, wafer-thin pizza without yeast and cuts their round pizzas into square pieces. Looking for a Mimosa alternative? This one is perfect for the holiday season....
Poinsettia This is probably the most serviceable, all-round cocktail-party drink: eminently refreshing; satisfyingly quaffable. It started off as a Christmas cocktail, a juicily seasonal Buck’s Fizz (a drink I normally find too acidically challenging at best and downright depressing at worst), but I now make...
