Stepping away from portraiture to explore new ideas and allowing myself some grace to experiment has been enlightening. This new series embraces my home state and has inspired me to be more curious with composition. 

In another week or two, this along with a few other dozen paintings of local people, places and things will be hung on display at York Hospital. Details to follow.

“Built by the Woods & Sustained by the Sea” this design honors the spirit of Maine’s industries. Inspired by the colors and character of the Maine flag, the composition brings together the harvest moon, planted fields, the working waterfront, and tall pines to reflect the industries that sustain Maine life, including agriculture, fishing, and forestry. The silhouette of Mount Katahdin stands on the horizon, a timeless symbol of resilience and natural beauty.

Built by the woods and sustained by the sea, this piece is a tribute to the hardworking people of Maine and the traditions that continue to shape its future. I submitted this for a potential sticker for the Platner campaign.
