Back to Basics Lifestyle. Rain day here .... which means some much needed crafting / sewing therapy this afternoon. Also some raspberries that need to be made into jam.

What goes with crafting and quilting? A cute cuddly kitten 🐱Meet Mello. Mello is a rescue kitten who got her name because she was mellow. Didn't do much .... until we introduced her to our house. Now my husband calls her TT - tiny terror. 😂😂😂 She looks fairly mellow in this pic though.

I can never have too much fabric (or yarn) .... said No One EVER! Fabric. Yarn. Just buy it ALL!

Self. Care. Ladies, I know this is one of the HARDEST things we don't do. As a mom, business owner, woman doing all the things, trust me, I get it. BUT I also have realized as I've aged the importance of it - self care. The single most important thing you can do. It doesn't require much. Movement. Healthy eating. Lifestyle change.

A walk to the mailbox while the kids nap or a walk around the block WITH the kids. Think about the example you are setting. Instead of the fast food (which we all know is convenient and easy), make it a "all hands on deck" salad fixings or healthy taco / pizza night. Small changes really add up. And since it's all about BALANCE - healthier eating or walking all week means a smoothie night.

Slow and steady - you will notice the changes. What do you want to work on today?

Memorial Day .... not just another day. Let's take a minute to pause and remember that we are free because some gave all.

Every day it is important to JUST MOVE! Whatever your capabilities, just MOVE! The first step is to set a goal .... maybe it's walking around the block. maybe it's a marathon. No matter the goal, make a plan to accomplish. If you're not active now, maybe it's walking to the mailbox or around the house. Moving is especially important as we age. Moving uses our muscles which helps to keep us from falling. I'm not saying, we won't ever trip or fall but hopefully our muscles can protect those bones. 😊

Meet Mello. The newest member of our family. She is sweet and soft as a bunny (according to maddie). Vet check - healthy! Playful - yes! Loves to cuddle.

Fitness can become an obsession BUT I have learned that REST days are an important part of that fitness journey. Honestly, I do not want to take a rest day, but I know my body needs it. I haven't had one in 18 days - by choice. So today will be some light stretching. That combined with the farm chores will definitely give me a workout - have you ever carried hay bales? 🙋🏼‍♀️ Then you know what I'm talking about.

A very long HOT day on the soccer fields today. Didn't get home until after 7 pm but still chose to work out. Why? Because I made a promise to myself. Because I have made the choice to level up. No excuses. Just getting it DONE! 💪🏻👊🏻💥

Faith. My life has been about FAITH ... from as early back as I can remember until today, right now. Thankfully I had a very good teacher, my grandma, who showed me what God's love was all about.

Finished reading a novel by .ann "Quilted Cherries" and decided I HAD to make some Oatmeal Cherry Chip Cookies. Tried a new recipe .... I'll make a few changes but to be honest - healthier and delicious. WIN!

The struggle is real. I love Easter. It is a glorious time of the year. It gives us hope. It reminds me that we have a place to call our forever home. BUT it's also a struggle for me personally.

Not only can I not imagine the pain and suffering our Savior went through but He did it for us - you and me.

Then there's the fact that because of Easter, I will someday be reunited with my youngest son. That is a HUGE struggle. Yes I know he's in a better place, I don't need a reminder but some days our really, really hard. It's been over 10 years and the pain is still real. Grieving doesn't end as the years go by. Grieving is a constant that I have learned to deal with on a daily basis. The season of lent, of Easter, of the hope and knowing that heaven is real is amazing but wanting just one more hug, or an I love you mom is the hard part.

I love Easter. I love the hope, the knowing that there is something to look forward to .... but those days in between are still hard.

Someone needs a good brushing. My horse LOVES mud. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Anyone else's?

My trip to Sioux City, Iowa had great results. Swipe to the end. Started with a long trip, filled with healthy snacks and dinner with a view. Ended with picking up my long arm.

The longarm is set up and ready for practicing.

It's so easy to forget that we have an amazing God. In times of feeling overwhelmed, do you turn to Him or try to figure it out on your own? Pray first, then react.

Just pray. Ever have one of those moments (like every day) where you react and THEN pray?

Me too 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ and as soon as I'm through the moment, I realize but did I pray first? No. No surprise. That huge moment wouldn't have happened if maybe I would have remembered to PRAY first. Most of the time for me, it's when I am so overwhelmed and then someone wants ONE more thing. What about for you?
