Announcing the Red Giant Family Plan - Helping Family Members Control Daily Spending Together

We launched Red Giant to help people take complete control of their daily spending using an innovative mobile app: first, by securing your money through the ability to keep your card locked when not in use; second, by providing useful, up-to-the-minute information about your spending, balance and targets, right when you're about to make a purchase; and third, by giving you important information about each transaction in real time.

We're excited to announce today that the next step in expanding Red Giant's service is aimed at helping families work together and share the responsibility of controlling daily spending, through our new Family Plan.

With the Family Plan, individuals can establish Red Giant accounts for themselves and for other members of the family. The accounts in the Family Plan can share information about purchases, security status, spending targets and balances -- all relevant information families can use to have conversations about better financial decisions.

The Family Plan is ideal for introducing control of daily spending right from the start. With Red Giant, family members will be able to work together to promote sound financial choices and purchasing decisions on a daily basis; access useful information for setting and meeting goals; and take charge of securing money from fraud and abuse.

How It Works

The Family Plan will support a total of up to four (4) separate spending accounts initially, including 1-2 primary accounts and 1-3 linked authorized spender accounts.

Both primary and authorized spender accounts will have the core Red Giant features, including the ability to lock and unlock cards, set and monitor spending targets, and receive info-rich receipts for each transaction. In addition, primary account holders will be able to transfer funds to authorized spender accounts, and also receive alerts when the cards are unlocked and purchases are processed.

The Family Plan will be available starting August 1. Existing Red Giant accountholders will have the option to keep existing accounts as they are or transition to the Family Plan and add authorized spender accounts. If you don't have a Red Giant account already, you can sign up today for a individual account and take control of your daily spending. In August, you'll be able to transition to the Family Plan to create authorized spender accounts.

Compatible Cards

Our goal is to make Red Giant capability as widely available as possible. As we introduce the Family Plan, we are also pleased to announce that the first portfolio of cards to be managed under the Family Plan will be the Red Giant Prepaid MasterCard® cards issued by Sunrise Banks, N.A. Consumers will be able to use these cards from the very beginning to enjoy the benefits of the Family Plan.

To help explain the benefits of the Red Giant Family Plan and the importance of controlling daily spending, Red Giant will be making a few announcements in the coming weeks.

We're thrilled to announce our Clinton Global Initiative America (CGI) Commitment to Action, detailed today at the organization's annual CGI America meeting in Denver, CO.

CGI America brings together leaders from the business, philanthropic, NGO, and government sectors to develop solutions for economic growth, long-term competitiveness, and social mobility in the United States.

Red Giant is making a CGI America Commitment to Action to promote better financial outcomes through control of daily spending, using the Family Plan as a springboard to determine how our products and services can be most effective at helping people meet their goals.
