There’s something profoundly sacred about the quiet moments before the world wakes up on our little slice of heaven at Resilient Roots Homestead. 🌄
This morning—like so many others—we rose with the first hint of light, bundled up against the crisp mountain air, and climbed to our favorite overlook. There, with the valley still sleeping below and the peaks glowing in soft gold, we stood together, hearts full, watching the sunrise paint the sky in hues we never tire of chasing.
No alarms blaring for deadlines, no rush of the day yet—just us, the land we’ve poured our sweat and dreams into, and the simple, unbreakable promise we made to build this life side by side. In these stolen dawn hours, the worries fade, the gratitude rushes in, and we’re reminded why we chose this path: not for perfection, but for presence. For the deep-rooted joy that comes from tending soil, animals, and each other through every season.
Life on the homestead isn’t always easy—there are long days, hard winters, and moments that test every ounce of resilience we’ve got. But mornings like this? They recharge the soul. They whisper that we’re exactly where we’re meant to be, growing stronger together, one sunrise at a time.
If you’re dreaming of a simpler, more grounded life—or if you’re already living it and need a gentle reminder—know this: the magic is in showing up for the quiet beginnings. It’s in choosing love, land, and each other every single day. The sunrise doesn’t ask for anything in return; it just shows up, faithful and beautiful, ready to light the way.
Here’s to early mornings, shared silences, and the roots we keep planting deeper. Who’s joining us for the next one? ☕❤️
Tag a friend who needs this kind of peace today, and share your favorite way to greet the dawn below. We’re all in this beautiful, resilient journey together.

Say hi to Johnny boy! One of my two little bucklings! He’s so cute. The only one with white ears! Can I get some love for little Johnny?
Breaking news for anyone who hasn't worked this out yet:
Cows are vegan.
No, stay with me.
The cow eats the grass. The clover. The herbs. The wildflowers. The diverse, mineral-rich, organically grown plant matter from the field.
The cow then, and this is where it gets interesting, converts all of that plant material into complete protein, bioavailable heme iron, zinc, B12, fat-soluble vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, creatine, and carnosine.
Using its four stomachs. Which are considerably better at this than yours.
So technically, the most efficient way to eat a plant-based diet is to let a cow do it first.
The cow is the blender.
The cow is doing the processing you cannot do yourself.
When you eat beef, you are eating a hyperconcentrated, biologically optimised, grass-powered superfood that a vegan has been assembling for you in a field for eighteen months.
You're welcome.

This munchkin turned 15 on the 15th! I miss her dearly but in honor of this kid I’ll be saving every penny for a federal lawyer help me take my ex and the state of Washington to court for not protecting her from abusers and in fact making sure she stays in abusers homes.
Jack and Petunia can’t stop fighting over the baba!
