Comments

Hello, we're in Phase III, is there any possibility of a festival this year, or is it too late to plan?
Is the festival still going to happen this year?
Less than a month now.
We are so excited to be headlining the children's entertainment again this year at the Franklin Parish Catfish Festival! Join us in Winnsboro again this year with the Snow Sisters, the Island Princess and the New Orleans Princess for the entire day on April 4th. We will be performing on the little stage at the Old Post Office as well as taking pics and signing autographs. We hope to see you there!
We want to introduce you to our new Chamber Member perk...."Poppin' In Spotlight"! We "pop in" on random Chamber member businesses and take your picture with the "I'm In" sign and see if there is anything that we can do for you!

Do you have the date for next year set?
Can you reschedule for this year please
Thank you all for doing what you do. The negativity and disparaging remarks about the board surrounding the cancellation of the Catfish Festival are just unwarranted, whether one agrees or disagrees with the decision. There are more civil ways to express it.
Safety first.
The Franklin Parish Catfish Festival has been canceled for 2019 due to expected severe thunderstorms this Saturday. No reschedule date has been announced. We were looking forward to seeing you there, but event organizers wanted to keep everyone safe! (4/11). Please share!!

Come join us and bring the family! Saturday, April 8, 2017!

In compliance with Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards’ ban of large gatherings, it is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Franklin Parish Catfish Festival. The ban on gatherings exceeding 250 people was put in place Friday, March 13, in an attempt to slow the spread of the new Coronavirus. “This one really hurts,” Festival Director Paul Price Jr. said, “especially considering last year’s weather-related cancellation. Of course the health of our community and the thousands of vendors and visitors who attend the festival each year is top priority and we must abide by state, national, and local guidelines.” Vendor fees will be reimbursed. There are no plans to reschedule the festival.

The calls have begun. “When is ‘Found on 15’ this year?” It is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS the first Friday and Saturday in November. That has been the date since the event began 14 years ago. This year “Found on 15” will be Friday, Nov.1 and Saturday, November 2. As always, we’ll spread the word - you do the rest. Hope to see you out and about at the yard sale spanning the 25 miles throughout Franklin Parish, mainly on Hwy 15, but many scattered along the byways. Thanks so much to our wonderful vendors, volunteers and supporters for understanding the difficult decision we made this morning to cancel the festival. We have enjoyed tremendous success for the past 33 years thanks to the great relationships we’ve enjoyed with our festival partners! Just to clarify: our database of vendors were notified via text or email this morning once the decision was made. Although we are not contractually obligated to refund vendor fees, it is our intention to do so as a good faith gesture. This will take some time to process, so we appreciate your patience! Looking forward to a great festival in 2020!

TOP TEN! The 33rd Annual Franklin Parish Catfish Festival is set for April 13th in historic downtown Winnsboro. We’re highlighting some can’t-miss things at this year’s fest!
Today’s focus: Grammy winners!
It seems to happen all the time. A performer will sign a contract with the festival and in just a few short weeks, they’ll win a Grammy! It happened with first time winners Jo-El Sonnier and Chubby Carrier in the past, and Rhonda Vincent just last year. This year it happened to Jason Crabb, who won his second Grammy for his outstanding Roots Album “Unexpected”. Jason’s a returning festival star and will bring a huge following for his 12:30 performance on the Old Glory Stage.
Jo-El is back as well, closing down the Old Glory stage with his high-energy brand of Cajun music.
Is there anything more “Louisiana” than a Cajun on an accordion? We think not!

Franklin Parish Catfish Classic 5k

Franklin Parish Catfish Classic 5k The Franklin Parish Catfish Classic 5k is on Saturday April 6, 2019. It includes the following events: 5k Run or Run/Walk and Kids 1k Fun Run.

Our History

The Franklin Parish Catfish Festival had its beginnings in early 1986 when a small group of individuals discussed the possibility of establishing a local event to promote Franklin Parish. The parish at this time was experiencing the emergence of a new industry in the field of aquaculture — specifically, farm raised catfish centered in the Wisner area. Thousands of acres of ponds were constructed, one processing plant existed, and a second processing plant and a feed mill were in the planning stages. This new and growing industry presented itself as an excellent theme around which to build a festival. The festival would publicize the industry, but more than that it could be a great instrument to promote Winnsboro and Franklin Parish.
