NEW: brand new forecast models/data have come into better agreement on what will happen to the current storms located in SW Nebraska
It looks like the atmosphere will have time to destabilize allowing those storms to strengthen and move NW to SE across Kansas, arriving in the Wichita area around/after 5 pm
This is a pretty significant change from 6-12 hours ago, and outdoor plans between 4-8 pm are at risk of both storms and severe weather
06/23/2026
NEW: severe t'storm warning for parts of Gray, Haskell, and Meade counties until 7:45 am
Doppler radar suggesting hail up to half dollar/ping pong size
Storm is SLOWLY moving ESE around 25-30 mph
06/23/2026
Severe T'storm Warning for portions of Kearny, Finney, and Haskell counties until 6:30... half dollar to ping pong size possible

Hey! Guess What! We are under a Storm Team 12 Weather Alert today, Wednesday, and Thursday... ugh
Morning/midday showers and storms will be strong, occasionally severe (small hail) but the weather alert today is for the next round arriving this evening/tonight
Like the past few events, the main concern is damaging wind gusts of 70+ mph followed by hail and heavy rain
Additional strong, possibly severe storms are likely Wed night and Thursday but with more heavy rain, our weather alert focuses more on flooding
A conservative 2-3" of rain - much more in spots - will only exacerbate current flooding concerns across Kansas

I’m pretty… make that SUPER excited to announce that some of the Great World Race runners are coming to Wichita to compete in the Prairie Fire 🔥 Marathon in October 🤩
I cannot wait to see some of my GWR 2025 brothers and sisters and show them that the ICT knows how to host a marathon 🥰

The good news is… our daily/nightly severe weather events will soon come to an end
The bad news is… the Kansas blast furnace is about to be turned on
From one extreme to another

Sorry to be 'that guy' but here we go again
Any storms today should be (mostly) sub severe and confined to far western Kansas this evening
On Tuesday (June 23), storms will move out of southern Nebraska into northern Kansas, and out of eastern Colorado into western Kansas during the afternoon/evening
These storms will - once again - morph into an MCS/bow echo and march across the state Tuesday night
Like the past few events, damaging wind and heavy rain are the main concerns
Here is what radar may look like at 12:00 a.m. Wednesday as the storms arrive in south central Kansas
