The survey is open from March 31, 2026, through April 14, 2026. The public online survey is an opportunity for stakeholders to share feedback and input about the Wichita-Sedgwick County Unified Zoning Code and the Wichita-Sedgwick County Comprehensive Plan – relative to data centers as a land use. The feedback received through this survey will be used to help inform whether any modifications should be made to either document.

Applications are now open for the 2026 9/11 Day of Service grant programs. These grants will provide funding to support service projects that commemorate the 25 years since 9/11 this fall.

Please consider applying for funding which you are eligible for and/or share with your networks – please note that applications are generally due April 1.

Campus Grants
Provides funding to colleges, universities, and qualifying national or regional organizations with a campus presence to organize volunteer service projects in observance of 9/11 Day.

Provides small grants to public, private, and charter schools to organize volunteer service and service-learning activities engaging students, educators, and families.

Student Leadership Opportunity (Registrations due June 15)

Student Service Captains
A national leadership opportunity for rising high school seniors to design and lead a 9/11 Day service project in their school or community. Twenty Student Service Captains will be selected to receive $5,000 scholarships. Schools and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to sponsor students interested in participating.

The 2026-2027 UNCF STEM Scholars Program provides scholarship and academic support for high school seniors who aspire to earn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degrees and to pursue careers in STEM fields. Selected applicants will receive up to $25,000 over 4 years as well as access to academic tutors, professional, internship, and career coaching. The Sustainability Microgrants Program is designed to assist groups and individuals serving the citizens of Wichita, Kansas in advancing a sustainability-related project or goal. The program provides support for completing a project or event that educates on, connects with, or otherwise supports local sustainability efforts. Ten (10) grant awards of $1,000 will be made in Spring 2026.

The application opens on January 1st, 2026, and closes at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 12th.
