Congratulations to my friend and current KBI Director Tony Mattivi on his confirmation by the United States Senate as the newest US District Judge for Kansas. President Trump made an excellent choice with this nomination. Kansas is lucky to have Tony on the bench.

As Chairman of the House Transportation and Public Safety Budget Committee, I sent a letter this afternoon to Governor Laura Kelly urging her to reject the clemency petitions filed on behalf of the Carr brothers and other Kansas death row inmates.
Jonathan and Reginald Carr were found guilty by a jury of their peers and sentenced to death under Kansas law for one of the most heinous crimes in Kansas history. Ann Walenta, Aaron Sander, Brad Heyka, Jason Befort, and Heather Muller deserve justice. Their families have waited over 20 years. They are still waiting.
These petitions are a coordinated, statewide effort timed deliberately for the final months of this administration. Governor Kelly must stand with the victims and not the men who took their lives.
My full letter is below.

In my time in the legislature, I've voted to cut taxes each and every opportunity I've gotten.
The result is over $1 BILLION in annual savings for Kansas taxpayers.
No tax on grocery bills. No tax on Social Security. A bigger property tax exemption. Reformed income tax brackets.
Harvey County families earned this money. You should keep it. And I'm not done fighting for even lower taxes.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Greenwood Cemetery today and to the volunteers who set up and decorated the graves for this morning's remembrance. Grateful to Congressman Estes for making the trip out and sharing some words. We don't take for granted the sacrifice these men and women made for our freedom.

Today we honor the ones who didn't come home.
Real people, with names, who died in uniform so the rest of us could live the way we do. It started after the Civil War, when communities across the country began gathering at cemeteries to lay flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers. We have been doing it ever since.
Take a moment today to reflect upon the ultimate sacrifice some have made in defense of our freedoms.
If you're in Newton this morning, join me at Greenwood Cemetery at 9 a.m.
Congressman Ron Estes will be speaking. Come be part of it.

Monday night's storms hit Harvey County hard. If you're dealing with damage to your home, vehicle, or property, I want to make sure you know where to turn.
The Kansas Department of Insurance can help you understand your coverage, get your claim moving, and fight back if your insurance company is giving you the runaround. Don't sit on it. Document the damage with photos and contact your insurer as soon as you can.
If you need help or want to file a complaint, reach KDOI at insurance.kansas.gov/consumers/file-a-complaint, by phone at 785-296-3071, or by email at [email protected].
If I can help or be of any service, please reach out.
🚨🚨 ENDORSEMENT 🚨🚨
Senator Stephen Owens has been one of the most effective conservatives in the Kansas Legislature, and I'm proud to have his endorsement.
Stephen and I have worked side by side fighting to cut wasteful spending, backing law enforcement, and keeping government out of the way of Kansas families and businesses.
Watch his message below and share it with your friends and neighbors in our community.

Registered s*x offenders should not be chaperoning children on field trips. Right now, Kansas has no law preventing it. What happened in Goddard proves exactly why that has to change. I supported legislation this session to fix it and it didn't pass, but this will be a priority when we return in January.

I attended the Peace Officers Memorial Day ceremony in Newton this morning. Grateful for the chance to honor those who gave everything in the line of duty and to thank the men and women who show up for Harvey County every single day.
