Congratulations to our Employee of the Month… Austin!

Austin started working at Larson Acres during his senior year of high school and is closing in on 27 years at Larson Acres! He started by milking and moving cows and quickly became a herdsman, spent time in the shop and crops department, and eventually ended up at the heifer facility, after its construction as the Assistant Heifer Manager, and has held the title of Heifer Manager for 17 years!

Currently, Austin’s main responsibilities are reproduction and herd health at our heifer farm. Austin is also a big part of our embryo program and works very closely with the veterinarians from Sunshine Genetics Embryo Transfer Service. There are many reasons his role is important at Larson Acres, but he simply put it best, “the heifers are the future cows of Larson Acres”.

In Austin’s free time, he enjoys taking care of his own animals (pigs and beef cows) and attending pig shows. He adores his nieces and nephew, who he enjoys helping and spending time with!
