A massive shoutout to all our members on BFD's Ski to Sea team, they brought home 1st place in the Corporate Division and placed 7th overall out of 500 teams. Incredible work!

That's a wrap! Over the past week, I had the opportunity to attend the International Association of Fire Fighters' Advanced Communications Training Academy in Washington, D.C.

This is the IAFF's most advanced communications course, with hands-on training in crisis messaging, social media and AI tools, digital campaign strategy, working with the press, writing op-eds, and congressional messaging.

Just as valuable was the chance to connect with Local presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, and fellow communications directors from across the country, along with leaders from our state organizations. Those relationships make all of us stronger.

Proud to represent Local 106 and bring these tools back to Whatcom County!

Today, May 4th, we honor International Firefighters Day.

To all of our fellow brothers and sisters, thank you. Thank you for the missed holidays, the middle-of-the-night tones, and the moments you put someone else's worst day ahead of your own.

Today we also remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Our Lynden firefighters had a great time visiting Lynden Middle School for Career Day and connecting with students about the fire service!

Huge congratulations to our brothers and sisters who were recognized at Station 1 yesterday! Stefen Paige was promoted to Fire Captain, Tom Kettman to Division Chief of Communications, and five of our newest paramedics: Emily Thompson, Andrey Baydak, Hunter Stopenhagen, Benson Laurie, and Trey Davis, received their pins. We're proud of each and every one of them!
