Grateful to those who have served and sacrificed, and to those who share their stories so we can remember and honor them.

I will be out and about throughout the county on Friday. Who still needs a sign?
Putting a sign up in your yard not only helps get my name out there, it shows folks you are supporting me. That is huge! If you’d like me
to deliver a yard sign to you, please sign up here: https://forms.gle/gGwiEdGqWMdMz5Qu6
It’s time to start purchasing some of the larger signs. If you can contribute $25 to help pay for those, you can do that here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/alison-rudolph-1
Thank you for your support! 🩵

I appreciate Farmer Seth at Redemption Springs Farm welcoming me to the farm this morning and talking with me about the impact of solar on his farm. (Not pictured, I got to hold a baby chick and pet a dog. Morning made).
I support solar. I do not believe it can be approached with a one-state-fits-all solution, and that is where we are with the current laws.
I don’t think we get anywhere as a county by demonizing the folks in Annapolis. Conversations and education are what change minds - and votes. That is what I promise to do for our community.
In the meantime, support our local farmers by buying directly from them. It’s farmers market season, and farms like Redemption Springs have websites that make it easy to shop super local! 🩵

Last week I reached out to a local farmer who will be impacted by one of these projects to ask if I could talk with him to learn more. I’m touring his farm with him tomorrow morning.
Again and again over the last several months, folks have asked me if I will talk to them and hear them out before voting on legislation that impacts them. My answer to that question will always be YES.
Carroll farmers and officials criticize solar projects they’re powerless to stop Carroll Commissioner Ken Kiler fielded questions Monday at the county’s monthly Technical Review Committee from angry constituents.

For all those who knew Neptune from his bookstore dog days, I wanted to share he has taken up gardening in his retirement. 🩵

There is something special about being in a roomful of people who all care deeply about the same thing. Last night’s fundraiser for the Carroll County Veterans Independence Project was special.
Like many organizations in Carroll County, CCVIP started out as a small group of dedicated community members that is now serving the 11,000 veterans in Carroll County and beyond.
Last night they celebrated both being included in our Commissioners’ county budget for the first time and receiving a $1 million check from the federal government, thanks to Congressman Olszewski. This kind of bipartisan support is how we get things done in our community, and it was wonderful to see it being celebrated last night. 🩵

Enjoying a few quiet moments before a busy day!
I’ll be at Your Voice, Your Choice in Westminster City Park from 10-2 today, working in the bookmobile from The Last Word, fka Books With A Past.
Tonight I’m attending a fundraiser for the Carroll County Veterans Independence Project, an organization that is doing great work for veterans in our community.
Enjoying my second cup of coffee out on my back porch probably means I will not make it to opening day of the Westminster Farmers Market, but I’ll be there next Saturday, for sure! 🩵

When you see a Walk and Talk on my campaign calendar, it’s a chance for fresh air, conversation , and probably meeting one of these guys.
Buddy and Neptune love walks and meeting new people, especially little ones. The two little guys we met this morning were excited to discover how soft these big dogs are! (That’s because I asked that my Mother’s Day gift be that someone in our family besides me would give them and their sister a bath).
I’ll get more Walk and Talks on the calendar soon! 🩵

I work part-time at one of our local vineyards, and drove up to work Mother’s Day morning following my daughter’s Saturday night graduation in DC.
Driving along the back roads of Carroll and Frederick Counties, I was so moved by the beauty of everything around me, and how lucky I am that I wasn’t going out of my way for a scenic drive. I was just driving to work.
It’s easy to take what we have for granted, and assume it will always be there, but we know that’s not guaranteed. That’s why I agree with hitting the pause button and placing a moratorium on data centers until we better understand their long-term impacts on our environment and our property and our energy bills. Let’s get all of the information so we can make smart decisions that move us forward while preserving what we already have. 🩵

I knew running for office was going to push me outside of some of my comfort zones. I’m genuinely happy to do that, but win or lose, I’m also going to spend the next 7 months being myself.
That’s a long way of saying, I am not coming to knock on your door to talk about this campaign. Smarter people than me believe that’s the way to do this, and that is absolutely what they should do. But this introvert who has three dogs who lose their minds when people unexpectedly show up at our front door is not going to door knock as part of my campaign.
In addition to events I’m publicizing to get out and talk to folks in our community, I’m so grateful to have several private events on my schedule in the coming month where folks are inviting me into their homes to talk with their friends and neighbors. If you can also help me make connections in that way, please let me know.
In the meantime, I’ll see you for a walk, at one of our awesome farmers markets, or another community event. 🩵
