This month, we celebrate the heroes behind every wish, the ones who lift spirits, hold hope, and walk beside their wish kids through life’s most difficult moments.

💖 Women Who Lead with Heart: Meet Amy King

Amy King became a wish granter in 2009, helping to grant Preston’s wish to go to Walt Disney World Resort. She had the opportunity to meet Preston and his family and be part of his magical sendoff — a moment that profoundly impacted her. 💙

Since then, she’s helped grant countless wishes, creating joy and hope for wish kids and their families when they need it most. Today, Amy serves on the Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas Board, is the Central Regional Council Chair, and the 2026 Wish Night Gala Chair.

"Make-A-Wish has introduced me to so many amazing people and good friends. Together, we’ve made wishes come true and shared a million laughs and fun memories along the way!”

Amy considers herself fortunate to work for Bazaarvoice — a company that prioritizes generosity and community and has supported Make-A-Wish in various ways by raising awareness and funds to help grant wishes.

🌟 Behind every life-changing wish are the women whose strength, compassion, and heart help make the impossible possible.

Meet Yessica, Teresa, and Sarah—three inspiring wish granters who bring joy, hope, and life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses across central and south Texas.

✨ Yessica has been granting wishes for more than 20 years and loves being a wishmaker: “Being part of the wish granting journey is not just about granting a dream; it's about touching hearts, creating moments of joy, and reminding us of the power of hope and connection.”

✨ Teresa's journey began when her daughter Aliza’s wish to go to Paris was granted in 2016. Inspired by that life-changing experience, she became a wish granter: “I am grateful to Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas for granting my daughter's wish. I now volunteer to help other children during the wish journey.”

✨ Sarah has granted countless wishes and shares what it means to walk alongside wish kids and their families: “It is a gift to be a part of a family's wish journey. No matter my own challenges, they pale in comparison to a family's fear of losing their child or a child's battle with a critical illness. Through my years as a wish granter, I’ve met the most humble, sweetest, and kindest families—they are all fighters, and I love their spirit!”

These women remind us of what it means to lead with heart. 💙 Thank you to Yessica, Teresa, Sarah, and ALL the women whose strength fuels our mission.
