Sol Solace Studio
Clinical Massage and Bodywork blended with Traditional Meso-American Medicine. Austin, TX MT119537
Hi!
Remember the old adage: “Why leave for tomorrow what you can do today?” It is applicable in so many situations. One example, is our body. Ignoring tension in the body can lead to physical pain.
Do any of these sound familiar? Why do my feet hurt so bad? Why can’t I move my arm? Why does my head hurt so much? I can’t sleep because my back hurts so much, maybe I need a new mattress?
In 50-80% of the cases a massage could help with the issues presented above.
Did you know that tight lower leg muscles, can cause plantar fascitis?
Or that,
tight leg muscles overall can cause knee pain?
a tense jaw, tense pectoralis muscles, or tense neck muscles can cause persistent headaches?
tight hamstring, glute or abdominal muscles can cause chronic low back pain?
Schedule a massage with me today to ease tension in your body!
See you soon!

When your muscles are tight or you have an adhesion (knot) then blood and lymph don’t circulate through that area as they should. Massage softens tight tissues, thereby increasing circulation in our bodies. It is important to drink water after a massage because it aids with circulation helping flush out waste materials and carry blood throughout our bodies.

Have you had bronchitis or COVID? Is your asthma acting up? Did you know massage can help your breathing? Oftentimes, as a result of a respiratory illness, adhesions or tension build up in the muscles that assist us with breathing. Massaging those muscles can break up adhesions and tension to improve breathing by opening up the chest area. Make massage part of your healing process, in addition to taking your prescribed medication.
Schedule a massage to improve your breathing!

Should I eat before a massage?
I recommend that you eat a very light meal one or two hours before a massage. If you eat right befor a massage, your stomach will not be done digesting your meal. As a result, you may experience indigestion, feel too full or bloated during the massage. Receiving a massage face down while you are feeling full, will make you feel even more full or bloated. Furthermore, you may have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the massage.
Openings for the week!
Another 5 star review! If you haven’t had a chance to try Reiki with Amy she’s here Saturdays, Tuesdays and Fridays!

I’m often asked whether it is best to visit the chiropractor before getting a massage or vice versa.
It depends, but most of the time, it is best to get a massage first and then get an adjustment at the chiropractor’s office that same day or the next.
A massage softens tissue and loosens muscles. A chiropractic adjustment corrects a misalignment in the musculoskeletal system.
When muscles are extremely tight, they can prevent or make it very difficult for an adjustment. In this case, massage is recommended before the adjustment.
Conversely, when a chiropractor is working on realigning the spine or an extremity, it is beneficial to receive a massage after the adjustment to train the muscle to realign along with the bones.
If you are in doubt, ask your chiropractor.
~ Connie
I am frequently asked whether it is okay to exercise after a massage. My answer: It depends on the type of massage and the type of exercise.
When in doubt, it is best to wait 24 hours to exercise after a massage, especially a deep tissue massage.
The best type if massage after exercise is deep tissue, sports and hot stone.
Stretching and relaxation massages are great before a workout.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique in which the practitioner guides the receiver’s energy throughout the body to promote self-healing. In other words, the practitioner does not produce the energy, but merely channels the receivers energy throughout the body. The word Rei means “God’s wisdom” or “the higher power”. Ki means “life force energy”. The combination Reiki means spiritually guided life force. It is believed that we all have life force energy that flows throught our bodies.
It is believed that Reiki helps a person experience deep relaxation, thereby reducing stress, depression, pain and anxiety and improving sleep by promoting the flow of energy throughout the body for self-healing.
There are no reported dangers or side-effects in undergoing Reiki.
A Reiki session typically lasts 60-90 minutes. The receiver lies fully clothed throughout the entire session, unless Reiki is being combined with a massage. The receiver should wear loose clothing for comfort and take off any jewelry, belts and shoes. If reiki is being performed during a massage, Reiki is performed over the receiver’s draped body.
In Reiki, the practitioner moves his or her hands over, slightly on or around the receiver’s body. Each position is held for 3-10 minutes. The practioner may talk during the session, but talking is usually minimal.
Come experience deep relaxation with a Reiki session!

Cuetlaxochitl, known today as Poinsettia, holds a rich cultural history rooted in Mexico. The vibrant red and green leaves of this plant were considered a symbol of purity by the ancient Mexica people. The name “Cuetlaxochitl” originates from Nahuatl, where “cuetlaxochitl” translates to “flower that withers, mortal flower.” This name reflects the plant’s unique blooming pattern, symbolizing the ephemeral nature of life.
The transformation to “Poinsettia” occurred in the 19th century when Joel Poinsett, the first U.S. ambassador to Mexico (a slaveholder, and a person responsible for many displaced indigenous peoples in the U.S) introduced the plant to the United States. Fascinated by its beauty, Poinsett began cultivating it in South Carolina. Over time, the association with Poinsett became so strong that the plant adopted his name in English. However, it’s crucial to recognize its indigenous roots and its integral role in Mexica ceremonies. Cuetlaxochitl was highly valued during winter festivities, and its brilliant hues were believed to represent the blood sacrifice of the gods, underscoring its spiritual significance in Mexica traditions.
As we adorn our homes with these vibrant blooms, may we pay tribute to the rich tapestry of our ancestors and the traditions that connect us. Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season, filled with the warmth of shared moments and the echoes of history in the petals of Cuetlaxochitl.
There are many types of massage, but they can be broken down into two simple categories. Relaxing Massage and Therapeutic Massage
The most common type of relaxing massage is the Swedish Massage. In this type of massage the therapist uses long fluid strokes which promote relaxation. The pressure can vary from light to firm. Aroma therapy or hot stones are nice additions to this massage. There is usually very little
communication during this type of massage since the receiver’s main focus is to unwind and relax.
Relaxing massages are great, but sometimes our bodies need something more. This is where Therapeutic Massage comes in. Therapeutic massage is used to address conditions such as
plantar fascitis, migraines, TMJ, sciatica, frozen shoulder, thoracic syndrome, arthritis, constipation, pelvic disfunction, scar tissue healing, recovery from a stroke, and many more. Massage is an effective complement to physical
therapy and chiropractic work.
Therapeutic massage requires communication between the therapist and the receiver. Oftentimes, the receiver takes an active part in
the massage.
So, what type of massage should you choose? Come explore the endless possibilities of massage with Sol
Solace and we will help you choose!
