The horses are up and trotting! We're so thrilled to see the work of these 12 amazing artists on display in town. The custom made pedestals mimic Italianate columns, a design which is seen in Freehold historic architecture. The custom American Standardbred horse sculpture was created and cast by Chris Soprano. Congrats to all!
Are you looking for something to do to walk off a few calories after having dinner in town?
Check out this project sponsored by the Neighborhood Preservation Program, the Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Commission and Downtown Freehold.
In keeping with Freehold's horse equine heritage, artists were called on to participate in the 2022 Half Mile of Horses Art Walk. Take a stroll through town and check out these beautiful works of art. The horses are on both sides of Main Street, from Spring Street to Throckmorton Street.
Starting last April artists submitted designs for their horses and in the beginning of May, twelve designs were selected. The artists had from the end of May until July 24 to paint and return their horses.
Starting today, August 1st and until October 15th, the horses will be on display in town. The horses have a QR code attached to each sculpture base and the public is encouraged to vote for their favorite horses. A ribbon ceremony identifying the winning horses (Win, Place and Show) will take place in front of the Hall of Records on October 15 and the artists of the winning horses will receive prizes.
After the close of the exhibit, the horses will participate in an auction at the American Hotel, at a date to be announced, this Fall. Proceeds of the auction will become historic preservation grants to support the preservation of Freehold Borough's heritage.

The horses are lining up at the gate! Here is a first look at our Half Mile of Horses Art Walk sculptures. The initial horse was handcarved, and a mold was made. The horses pictures were cast from that mold. We can’t wait to see them decorated and lining our downtown! Thanks Stonedog Studios for your incredible work 🐎💕

We need a Shop Assistant at StoneDog Studios in Freehold, NJ!
Contract (1099)/part-time position starting at $18/hour (1-month probation).
The ideal candidate will have at least basic carpentry and/or painting experience, can lift at least 25 lbs, is willing to learn on the job as we pivot between projects, follows directions (safety is key in the shop!), and is fully vaccinated (proof required). We need someone to assist the lead carpenter or scenic artist with daily projects needed for clients as well as help keeping the shop tidy.
Hours are flexible. We need someone who is available when the shop is open: M-F 9:30am-6pm. No benefits available at this time. Shop is fully vaccinated.

Spooky season is here! October always reminds us of the Haunted Hall event in 2014.
