Carol had been coaching softball for 63 years (yes, you read that correctly over 60 years), an extreme rarity anywhere in the USA on any level as a softball coach or any other sport coach. Her time, care, dedication and passion for the sport of softball is both Hall of Fame and Legendary. During the late 1980’s, Carol Savino created Mass Drifters Club Softball for girls 16-18 years of age in order to get them prepared to play the game on the next level in college and beyond. The program was established to train and develop female athletes who are committed to the game, just as Carol Savino has been herself all these years and a real inspiration to thousands of female athletes over the years.
Growing up, she didn’t have the opportunity to move forward with softball if she had wanted to, so creating the Drifters was a way that she could give back; never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that the Drifters would become so huge. Mass Drifters continues to grow at an astounding rate each year and it helps to make special relationships and connections while providing the basis to share so many special memories of a lifetime. Thanks to Carol Savino club softball is what it is today – a very special entity to be part of to learn, grow, develop and make you a better person on the filed and off the field.
