“Nature needs native plants”
Spent the morning pulling garlic mustard at the Cedarburg Bog and found this incredible Cecropia moth just emerging from hibernation!
You seriously see the coolest things when you’re out volunteering. Get out there and clear some invasives, you never know what you'll discover!
Friends Of Cedarburg Bog
Green sweat bee and Shooting Star flower.Did you know honeybees CANNOT do this?
This tiny iridescent bee is performing "buzz pollination." It literally unhooks its wings and vibrates its entire body to shake the pollen out like a salt shaker.
Listen to that volume!

Natives are the ultimate support system for a vegetable garden, attracting the specialist bees and predatory insects that increase your yields and manage pests naturally. I’ll be back as the native plant vendor when the farmers market kicks off in June, and in the meantime, the market is still looking for local produce vendors to help fill the stalls!
The Dundee Farmer's and Crafter's Market is looking for produce vendors for this season! We offer a friendly atmosphere, flexible schedule, low fees, easily accessible manager, on a wonderful grassy site in Dundee. If you're interested, give us a call/text at 920-400-0562!

When you know the name of a plant, it stops being "just a plant". It’s the difference between walking through a crowd of strangers and walking into a room full of friends. Hello friends! Welcome spring.
And I'm a flower
This invasive shrub is a major bully in our local forests and yards. Killing it isn't just "yard work"—it's an act of restoration!
Why the Buckthorn battle? Because our songbirds deserve better! Buckthorn's dense thickets and poor-quality berries don't provide the nutrition or safe habitat that native plants do. Let's make room for life! Let's free it up!
A flash of red in a quiet landscape! ❤️
Winterberry is a native shrub that has a spectacular display of bright red berries that persist all season long.
These aren't just for show—they're a vital food source for wildlife. Many birds, including cardinals, robins, and mockingbirds, depend on these berries when other food is scarce. Even small mammals find sustenance here.
On your next hike, keep an eye out for this beautiful and resilient plant! 🌿
