It’s important for us for you to know who we are and where we came from, and trust that every member of the PMT Forklift family wants to make sure you are supported fully and that your partnership is valued.

Pedro DeLeon “Papi” and his brothers moved from Puerto Rico to the Bronx when they were young, where they were raised from a humble life in a tough neighborhood in the 60’s.

Pete has always had that entrepreneurial spirit as evidenced by his selling candy and fruit on the streets before school in Puerto Rico when he was young. If you meet him, make sure you ask him about his great stories from PR.

His work ethic instilled into him from his Mother Junita, and pure unwaivering determination made him highly driven. His Faith always has been woven into his attitude that God always is In control. The two traits married together have always made him fierce.

The original business was “Pete’s Forklift Repair” founded in 1982 and Pete grew this business successfully from the back of a van and a space in his Garage. Pete started PMT Forklift in 1986 as a partnership and fully took over ownership in 1988.

We then opened our first location in Sayville NY on Cherry Street, then moving to Ronkonkoma as we grew, and then opening our second location in Jamaica Queens around 1990. In 1999 we purchased our current building in West Babylon and continue to maintain our location in Jamaica.

The business grew to where we are today and early on that success came with the help of his 3 brothers who have all been involved in the business in some way, and directly affected its success in Sales Structure, and Service. The early PMT family who really supported each other in all ways created our culture of everyone understanding that we are all putting food on eachother’s plate. That ideal continues even today. And of course NONE of this is possible without the support of His wife of over 56 years; Myrna (Mommy). His sons joined into the business and it is now run by Pete and two of his sons.

We now continue the DeLeon Family legacy with the 3rd generation between Sons and Grandsons, and Nephews and NIeces who are 2nd generation from their father. But we could not be successful without our extended PMT team. Some of that family have been with us over 20 years, or with us since their age of 14 and starting their own family legacy. Different last names doesn’t mean they are not part of the DeLeon family.

Along the way Pete accomplished some ‘small’ things like being chosen to represent MAJOR brands like Mitsubishi, Linde, Blue Giant, Big Joe, JLG, and Tennant, and having our equipment featured in productions for Radio City Music Hall, The Rockefeller Christmas Tree, and Netflix Shows like “Bull,” as well as being prime supplier for the Goodwill Games, as well as The US Open.

Our favorite accomplishment however will be the hundreds of success stories of our clients big and small and knowing we are able to play a part in it.

Our PMT Team enjoys Pete’s constant advice and mentorship in Sales and Service and he and our company continue to carry on the great reputation we have as the right company to chose to have by your side as your business grows.
