If you find yourself riding in Northwestern Maine, make sure to visit Quill’s Hill. It’s a nice curvy dirt road ride to the top with world class views in every direction of the mountains and lakes in northwestern Maine. 

One of Maine's most incredible places and views comes at the Quill Hill Overlook, set on a 2,848-foot summit near Rangeley. In spring, a 4-mile gravel road leads you all the way to the top, winding through woods that are turning fresh shades of green as the season comes alive. At the summit, wide-open views stretch in every direction, including Saddleback Mountain, the Rangeley Lakes, Flagstaff Lake, and even peaks in Canada on clear days. The overlook was built and cared for by local lumberman Adrian Brochu and still has picnic tables, a wood-fired grill, and signs that point out what you’re seeing. A smooth path connects the different viewpoints, making it easy to take in each angle. With mild spring air, clear skies, and everything greening up below, it’s a quiet, wide-open spot that feels far from everything.

After a great ride, my camp glows with campfire and lantern light.

A bridge over a quiet stream feels like an intersection. You want to stop, look in every direction, and wonder where each path might lead. Out here, only one way is motorcycle-accessible — so that’s the line I followed this time.
The rest? Maybe I’ll come back and hike it on a future visit.
