Bracket fungi can live for decades on a single tree, adding a new layer of growth every year like a timeline written in wood. Some of them get massive. Red mangroves don’t just grow along the coastline, they actually build it. Those tangled root systems trap sediment, stabilize shorelines, and create nursery habitat for juvenile fish. They’re one of the reasons I love sculpting them. Nature already did all the interesting design work. Link in bio.
