I'm writing today with two requests:
1. That the Watertown Farmer's Market works to improve accessibility by repositioning stalls to be along concrete walkways wherever possible and does research and puts thought into how accessibility could be improved for the market.
2. That the Watertown Farmer's Market lists accessibility details for the market on it's website, in the newsletter, in flyers, and on social media. Simply listing the accessibility of the space and what is being done to improve accessibility would make a huge difference in the lives of people with disabilities who have to constantly ask if places they are headed are accessible. They shouldn't have to ask. The information to make an informed decision about whether or not they can attend an event should be provided to them up front.
Accessibility is important and it matters. Access to fresh food, organic food, and community events for people with disabilities is important and it matters. Please consider making these changes and actively communicating and being accountable to the needs of your town community.
