The sights and sounds of my birthday (in no particular chronological order lol)…

Slide 1: My first walk along the National Mall in at least a year. Had to soak in that sunshine today ☀️ and it had to be IN D.C. and nowhere else.

Slides 2 & 3: In my Ladell Betts/Alfred Morris year 🏈❤️💛. Plus, they were two workhorses who don’t come up in everyday conversations for their contributions and I can relate to that.

Slide 4: I had my cousin rolling this morning when she called me and asked was I up late partying last night and I told her, “Nah, I was in here watching ‘The Golden Girls’!” 🤣🤣🤣

Slide 5: “Sweet Sixteen” anniversary of my first mixtape. Run it up for a real one’s birthday one time for the one time, please and thank you 🎧🎶📈.

Slide 6: In my Jermaine Dupri voice, “Y’ALL KNOW WHAT THIS IS!” 🥳🎂🎉🎊

Sound: I specifically chose “Coming of Age” by JAY-Z featuring Memphis Bleek to honor the late, great DJ Clark Kent on what would’ve been his 59th birthday and what has always been one of my favorite beats he’s ever produced 🎶🙌🏾🕊️.

BIG thanks to everyone who called, texted, or messaged me. While this was a unique birthday in a lot of ways and life got the butter from the duck on the way to it, all praises be to the Most High God for getting here and what He has in store for my 47th trip around the sun.

When we brought our beautiful pup Maggie home from on Sunday, said to me (and I’m paraphrasing), “You got the wife, the kid, the house, and now the dog. You really are living the dream.” Welp, she was right about that much like she was about us needing a dog 😎🤷🏾‍♂️💯😂☺️. Yesterday, the sequel turned 5️⃣; today, the O.G. turns 6️⃣ 🥳🎉🎊 and this is the one which first sparked the confidence to release instrumental albums. As someone who was patiently waiting to release my projects as a hip hop vocalist but going through some delays beyond my control, getting ANY form of my music to the people became more important. Not to mention this album got the most challenge participation from artists other than myself, drawing verses from & 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
