14 years ago, Lalo marched for DACA. Today, he’s almost 40, with a family — still in limbo. Still can’t plan his life more than two years at a time. Still missed his daughter’s award ceremony because traveling isn’t safe.

The GOP just passed $70M for ICE and CBP instead of working on humane immigration policies that offer stability and safety.

He isn’t giving up.

“I’d rather live fighting for something,” said Lalo, reflecting what dreamers live with every day, but they deserve much more.

Sharon is the person everyone calls when they need help. But when she needed help — no bank loan, no personal loan, no one to call — there was no one there for her.

“I just shut down completely. I almost went into depression.”

Craig didn’t need a lecture about hard work; they needed a shower, a meal, and a safe place to sleep — so they could show up and prove what they were capable of.

A guaranteed income gave them exactly that. And they did the rest.

Karla fled Venezuela seeking safety. Federal immigration agents snatched her during a routine check-in and placed her in an all-male detention unit.

For a month, she was denied her hormone therapy. Guards intentionally misgendered her daily.

While in detention, Karla never stopped organizing.

We are demanding Congress end the mistreatment of trans and LGBTQ+ immigrants in detention and deliver a pathway to citizenship now.

Back in 2012, DACA recipients were high school students, full of dreams and uncertainty.

14 years later, and we are parents raising families, starting businesses, working as teachers, caregivers, entrepreneurs, and more. We are part of the working people who keep this country running.

As we approach DACA’s 14th Anniversary, Congress cannot ignore the mounting threats to chip away at DACA’s protections and leave our communities vulnerable.
