📣Breaking News...CMS Places Nationwide Enrollment Moratoria on Hospice and Home Health Agencies !

This morning, CMS implemented a six-month, nationwide moratorium on new Medicare enrollment for hospices and home health agencies (HHAs), describing it as one of the most significant fraud prevention actions in the agency's history.

Key Takeaways:
✅ The moratoria temporarily halt new provider enrollments for six months, while existing providers can continue operating without disruption.
✅ CMS will use the six-month window to intensify investigations, deploy advanced data analytics, and accelerate removal of suspected fraudulent providers — including blocking bad actors from evading detection by crossing state lines.
✅ The action follows earlier moratoria on certain DMEPOS companies and builds on the CRUSH initiative which suspended payments to 773 hospices and 23 HHAs in Los Angeles alone, representing $70 million in suspended funds.

ADVION is proud to stand with 173 other national organizations signing the Patient ID letter calling for Congress to repeal Section 510 in the federal budget, the longstanding ban on a unique patient identifier (UPI). Repealing Section 510 of the Labor-HHS appropriations bill would remove the outdated prohibition on federal funding for a national UPI that would be a pivotal step toward reducing patient misidentification, medical errors, and duplicative records.

ADVION is a steadfast supporter of removing this provision that would strengthen patient safety, improve care coordination, and enhance the overall efficiency of our health system.
